Singer of metal band Beartooth comes out as gay!
Oh wow. Genuinely pleasantly surprised. I knew him since his Attack Attack day, but really only started listening when he started Beartooth in 2014 when he was thicker (He knows how to make catchy chorus). He really didn't give off the vibe, especially with him constantly posted about his girl on social media. I guess we never really know nowadays. But more power to him I wonder if Bilmuri knew all along. My imagination runs wild

20-11 20. Wardruna - Skuggehesten I used to join an online music forum where one of the admins was a huge stan of Wardruna. I remember how annoying it was to get his attention/response/feedback on site issue, then I eventually learned that to make him speak, I just needed to bring up Wardruna in the first place. "This Wardruna's song is so good" and he would flock right away and be your bestie for the next few minutes. I always get a flash of this funny individual whenever I listen to Wardruna, though normally I'm only lukewarm to Wardruna in general bar a few songs. Skuggehesten is one such song, it's a powerful one though, like a warlord trying to up the morale of their soldiers. 19. El Cuarteto de Nos – Puertas First encounter with the band, the comments I read sort of implied they passed their prime. I don't know how much I agree with that as I really enjoy the new album, and Puertas is definitely top three in terms of strongest chorus melody I heard in any song this year. It's just soaring and soaring, so satisfying. 18. Lorien Testard - MONOCO Every blind let's player video I've seen of Clair Obscur, every one made a comment about the song when they got to the part with Monoco (which was my exact reaction as well). The vocoder at the start was so out of place in relation to the overall sound design of the game, so when that baowaowao part came on, everyone was like 'huh?', but then the sax hits and it collectively moves your shoulder to a satisfying landing. Good job, Lorien. 17. Marlon Williams – Pānaki Been going back and forth to New Zealand lately, and this song was a part of my introduction of the beautiful language and my emotional attachment to the place. 16. Guilt - Admiration This entire song would be NOTHING if the tremolo part didn't exist. That is one serious elevation, like putting a few drops of sesame oil to my regular stir fry veggies recipe. 15. The Besnard Lakes - Calling Ghostly Nation Again, the guitar saves the song. I was not an avid listener of Besnard Lakes by default, just meh. Then I get to this song and that two distorted guitar picks after the chorus just cut so deep and wrapped the entire package so beautifully. 14. Shrunken Elvis - An Old Outlet All around high vibrational, sounding like something cool sophisticated people who's too good to hangout with me would listen to 13. Viagra Boys - Store Policy I don't think I've ever heard anyone used 'gooning' in any lyrics before. Sebastian is crazy. 12. Rezident - Moving In (feat. ElMar) This is this year's rainy night drive song for me. 11. Julien Baker & TORRES - No Desert Flower Didn't like the album at all, except for this song. The best showcase of their melody usage, harmony and cheekiness.- California's Best of 2025
Deki Alem Killah Model/Actriz Congrats on the list/project. This was a fun read!- Botnus' Top 100 Songs of 2025
30-21 30. Kevin Abstract - H-Town Very much in line with stuff I admired Brockhampton for. The chorus is really beautiful. 29. The Sherlocks - Man on the Loose My comfort indie rock. The kind that's easy to like and hard to not jam along to. 28. TETUAN - Rusalka Vampiro That beat drop surely change the air around. It's so subtle yet ominous. Makes me so looking forward to it each time this comes on. 27. Mooseh - In the Hollow Tree I can't sing, I can't play piano. This song makes me wanna do both. 26. Billy Cobb - Strawberry Water Ice Since Cayucas hasn't released anything recently, this song will have to be my lazy summer song this year 25. Ciao Kennedy - Foire du Midi Nerdy childlike thrill oscillating between serious and playful, familiar and strange. 24. Ruen Brothers - Poison Down the Wire I don't think they do close harmony, but they should. The recipe is all there: two men, folk country, formal appearance, guitars, let's go. Everly Brothers style. 23. Miley Cyrus - Lockdown (feat. David Byrne) My inner self got up, clapped and yelled bravo the first time I finished this song. The buildup, Miley's section on 10:45, David's belt right after, the drum, lock it down down down down down down…. 22. Kardashev - Speak Silence (feat. Genital Shame) Was not familiar with the band and only interested because of Genital Shame. Good prog all around, the density (both vocal and instrumental) doesn't take away the more melodic ethereal element in the song. 21. ocarth – Opthasiro This was my number 1 song of 2025 for some months since its release date. My note for the song at the time was: 'having your soul siphoned in slow motion'. Yeesh- Botnus' Top 100 Songs of 2025
40-31 40. Pat and the Pissers – Chump It's like knowing something is stupid and will backfire, but we're still doing it anyway 39. Safe Mind - Brick Store Perfect soundtrack for looking out over the city at night on the way from the airport 38. Matt Berninger - Bonnet Of Pins You know how some artists have reputation to write about same old things many times? I always associate the National's singer to write mostly about his wife. Like they have a break up and make up phase all the time. Bonnet of Pins is not about the wife, and I don't know whether that affected my affinity towards the song or not, but it's pretty great, especially the bridge segue its way to the final chorus. 37. Trond Kallevåg - Twins of Træna The kind of sorrow they talk about in classic European folklores 36. Crippling Alcoholism - Saran-Wrapped Cash I was introduced to Crippling Alcoholism from their lyrics on their debut that went: "I know you want your skin back, But you hurt somebody close to me". Which was crazy. I think their new album is their best, a well-made culmination of how to balance the scale between convention and innovation, between dread ("If I die we both get what we want") and irony/humor ("Should I kill myself? Well, funny you should ask"). Catchy as hell too. 35. JMSN - Dirty Dog I didn't know this dude is Alexa Demie's boyfriend… 34. L.S. Dunes – Machines Highly underappreciated. One of not many high pitched male vocals that I enjoy, solid songwriting and instrumental. Melodic, rhythmic, all that. 33. A Million Creatures - My Chest I can't be bothered to make an album list this year, but I remember thinking that if I were to make one, A Million Creatures' album would be shortlisted definitely. Very consistent minimalist acoustic folk with an edge. My Chest is just an example out of many other songs in the album like 'Until They' and 'Desert'. 32. Getúlio Abelha – Armação Indifference can be really sexy in the proper setting 31. Agriculture - Dan's Love Song Mood-specific, hit me like a ton of bricks- Botnus' Top 100 Songs of 2025
It's funny because the song is very similar to one of the songs from another artist in my 2023 list, just with clean vocal. Maybe it's something more to your liking: Spoiler - What are your top 10 most played song from the 80s?
