Miley Cyrus seems to be gearing up for a new era and has changed her username across social media platforms to just @miley Is this the right decision? Initially I thought no, but if anyone ever said the name Miley to me, I would only ever think of her.

Yes. There's no other Miley.

What about Miley Bobby Brown? She has a strong LGBT following.

idt it matters atp, she will always be Miley Cyrus. I never get it when artists try to change their names 10, 15 years into their career, like... it's not going to catch on lol

No. I remember when she teased the idea of just going by 'Miley' at the start of the Bangerz era because she felt like a new artist and wanted to emphasize the separation between her old and new music career. It would've made much more sense back then, not now when she's 20+ years into being known as Miley Cyrus and isn't trying to distance herself from anything

It's going to mess up her music library on streaming platforms.

Marina and the Diamonds changing to Marina was a mess. Miley has an even bigger catalog

maybe something about her old label owning miley cyrus and her likeness?

She's always going to be Miley Cyrus. I don't mind her playing around with her name and just being Miley for an era. Kinda fun and iconic tbh.

The only thing that would be messy is if she fully creates a new artist profile separate from her catalog, which I highly doubt.

She is known as Miley Cyrus and no marketing is going to change that so no

It's likely a personal driven rebrand cause her name will be Miley Morando in a few months

I don't think so. Columbia doesn't seem to have bought her name.

I’m glad more are seeing the vision because this thread about Addison Rae just going by Addison was more positive rip

Which is funny bc going by Addison is objectively a worse idea. Addison is a way more common name vs Miley which is instantly recognizable even without the Cyrus surname rip

Most artists just start using their first name on promotional material once they reach a certain point but they never officially get rid of their last name (the only artists I can think of that actually did that are Janet and Cheryl Cole). I think she should go that route instead of actually dropping the name.

She doesn't have to officially drop it if she doesn't want to. There's no other Miley in the industry that she'd have to worry about either. Idk. She did have her named legally changed to that so I feel like she's decided to keep the surname (for now).

She's 10 albums Into her career... it would've been cute for bangerz or even before that, now it's just useless
