Is KAROL G a copycat?

Featured Replies

You see, i dont really listen to music in spanish often so whenever i read allegations of karol copying rosalia, aitana, bad bunny, j balvin, shakira or anyone else -and I read those allegations daily- I dont know whether these allegations are true or not

I will say, however, that mañana sera bonitos album cover is a shameless copy of bad bunnys prior album the same year, and that her brand new album cover feels like she reheated britneys nachos. I have seen some very reasonable arguments on why she copies rosalias aesthetics on the past

So i dont know if musically is truth, but visually there is some truth on the constant allegations of her not being original and copying everyone elses material

I find singers who do this on a regular basis disgusting and artistically atrocious. But particularly, i find it very very mediocre. But whats your take on it?

Karol G tries so desperately to convince everyone she's an "artist" when the artistry is nowhere to be found

You for got the album before this one was trying to be DTMF. coffee

Yes but at least she copied the right people for this album. clap3

She's kinda inauthentic now. It was pretty obvious during the Mañana Será Bonito/tropicoquera era, when she was trying to be like the female Bad Bunny or something . But I don't blame her, every other Latin artist was doing the whole "I'm so proud of my roots" thing back then and it worked for her.

I prefer her older stuff like Tusa, mami, creeme , BICHOTA, el makinoon. At least with those I can see her own personality.

adapting to the streaming era =/= copying.

that's why she's sitting at #1 on Spotify right now. not everyone knows how to stay relevant after 30 years… or 10 years.

La audacia verdad? cuando pasó de lucir como Gloria Stefan a la versión latina de Alanis Morrisette en menos de 2 años lmao

Well, Shakira at least already had classics albums in the bag and had paved the way as long with Gloria Estefan to her upcoming copycats. And shall we rememebr that Shakira literally gave Karol her biggest international hit to date?. Don't bite the hand that feeds you

Karol is from the streaming era…

Let me know if her tour surpasses 550M

The US leg is doing fine, but what about her non-sold out shows in Argentina (1 date), Peru (1 date), Brasil (1 date), Mexico, Europe, Canada?

She's lucky the Latinos in the US still support her.

Well i am asking whether karol is a chaser/copycat/doppelganger

For shakira theres no need to ask because it is a proven fact

Anyways, it's complicated

For me the only blatant copy was Bad Bunny's aesthetic with MSB/UVST and DTMF/Tropicoqueta rip

While the most ridiculous one is the accusation from fans of an EUROPEAN saying that a LATINA is copying a song from the LATIN genre "merengue" lol rip

Other than that she's just an artist who jumps to the trends of what's popping in Latam and she does it good. Right now is simply because Latin music is flopping, outside of Bad Bunny nobody's hitting and the other latina that is hitting has to do it with English music and African sounds

treacherous

And whos that other latina having hits with african sounds right now

Oeee oeeee lero la

No she's not. Like it was already said i can only see some similarities with Bad Bunny's UVST aesthetic during MSB, but overall she's doing what works for her and what's also trendy currently, which is normal and what almost everyone else does

Most stans are just jealous bc of her success and everything she's accomplishing. MSB was extremely massive, SATHC was a huge (solo) hit, multiple Grammy wins, stadium tours, billions of streams and so on. Since they aren't able to come for her status, they either call her ugly, or a copycat or use any transphobic slur against her, which is disgusting.

she went to the Tate Mccrae school of Thievery
