Well no, he explained it here:

Bombastic by Bonnie McKee mentioned within the first 20 seconds of this album is exactly the kind of thing I expect from Spencerrr.

First week of pride month and we got a new gay love song:

right right...

I might give his debut a listen then, I like some of his songs with Dial Tone being the top of course

Love Spencer down but I feel like this era hasn't resonated with me musically compared to the last projects but I will give this a listen and hopefully change my mind

Excited to tap in, the pre-release singles were great. I still think I preferred TK Ultra's sound but I like the more polished production he's trying to go for this run.

I think he's so overlooked. he's been here making the internet hyperpop pre- PC Music consistently at such a good level, so many bangers under his belt and such a clear sound. Love this album.

For me Denim and Lip Service are fireee, but so pop. It kind of makes sense as he's definitely this internet 'popstar' artist as opposed an artist or popstar in the traditional sense. TK Ultra was definitely more gritty, but I think his voice suits this polished 2000s sound way more.

I absolutely loved Denim on my first listen and the fact that he returned for that 2000s inspired pop was so exciting for me (Crush is my fav project from him) but the later songs even tho they were good weren't really speaking to me to return to them idk why

I hear it! I think a lot of the 'hyperpop' artists struggle with that line between bubbly pop and hardcore sexy edm vibes, obviously so many people bit off of Charli's sound that derives from PC Music as a playful fun pop sound, but Ayesha is really the archetype for the dirtyyy pop 2010s beats sound. So it all seems to sound like either TK Ultra or Crush, which in my opinion is valid because he was at the forefront of the early hyperpop wave.

I think Slayyyter struggled with it too after her selftitled mixtape which is why I'm glad she found a better niche for herself. It seems that Spencer decided to polish that part of this "hyperpop niche" that he was a part of and made it sound more grown compared to the bedroom pop from around the pandemic.

I got through most of this yesterday and I definitely prefer TK Ultra skull It just has a lot more punch than a lot of these tracks. Denim is still great and Oaxaca was a bop also. Maybe they will grow on me though.

TK Uktra and Superstar had higher highs but it's still a great collection of songs. Love that each era he's evolving and giving something a bit different. The visuals have been stunning.

A few years ago Taco Bell was a song recommended to me on Apple Music and I loved it, didn't know That Kid was still making music!

I just skimmed through and I am loving a few bops on this so far:

Oaxaca

Bubble bath

Rodeo Daydreams

Tanlines

This will go platinum on my phone.

Just getting around to this. I favourited most of the tracks with my faves being Romeo, Tan Lines, Lipservice, and Oaxaca. I much prefer this to TK Ultra. This feels like a more skillful approach to raunchy/comedic lyrics
