Kevin just became my 10th most played artist and Achilles is my most played non-Taylor album released since 2011. Still surging up both lists, too. He'll be in my top 5 artists by the end of the summer at the rate he's going.

I really love all 4 of the songs we've heard from this album so far, but I hope at least a few of the remaining songs will have the more… linear narrative storytelling of Downers Grove and Achilles. If that makes sense.

He did it. I love the album. There's a lot more rock influence on this one compared to Achilles. It's cool to see him evolve his sound.

I agreed a lot with this. But it's interesting that this time the narrative storytelling tends to be more concentrated on the overall album than on individual songs. There's a clear emotional evolution all throughout the album which is another approach that I really enjoy. Though it means I might not listen to individual songs as much as I did on the last one, but the overall experience of the album is "better" (if that makes sense). It's still the first few listens though so my opinion might change.

Except romance tape. I don't know what it is about that song but I am just obsessed with it (and have been ever since he posted the chorus on instagram).

I also wonder if the use of "dance/dancing" and its meaning changing song to song was made on purpose to drive the narrative of the album or if it randomly happened during the writing process. Similarly, I would love to know if he started the writing sessions for the album knowing there'd be 2 sides (desire and shame) and wrote with that in mind or if he wrote the songs and then realized they'd fit in two distinct themes.

I guess I have questions to ask him during my M&G in December.
