The charts are fun again!

Do you agree with this statement? It seems like 2026 is starting off with a bang. Almost two months in and we already have have 5 #1 singles (6th being Bad Bunny's DTMF coming soon) with lots of competition and potential future #1s incoming with Bruno and Harry's new album releases coming in 3 and 4 weeks, Taylor's Opalite sales coming in two weeks, Olivia and Ella Langley's battle for #1 this week etc... The charts are moving!

Look at this year:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Billboard_Hot_100_number_ones_of_2026

And then last year:

Do you think we will have more #1s overall? Did I miss some new releases that could be a potential #1? Discuss below:

2024 was way better because it gave us actual smash hits. But Bad Bunny can save this year's charts if he releases a new album.

We def need more songs from THIS YEAR hitting the top spot ( though Luther still eats all of this years #1s so far)

Hiss, Not Like Us, Espresso, Like That, We Can't Be Friends, Texas Hold 'Em and a few others I'm forgetting.

EDIT: Wait, Espresso didn't go #1- rip

At least it's thousand times more interesting than 2025, where it was pretty much 4 songs owning the top spot (Luther, Ordinary, Golden and Ophelia)

OT: Yes!

Taylor's Opalite sales coming in two weeks

Sold in the beginning February, counted for at the end of February. The FRAUD she and her chart game is nnnnnn

Anyway, aside from Desperate Swift (and lowkey Desperate Mars), I agree - its quite fun to follow. And we still have heavy hitters coming this year!

I had no idea Ella's song went no1 WHAT bibliahhi've been streaming that on and off since november.

probably BTS as well in March

Thank god. 2025 was a dreadful chart year. Maybe the worst of my entire lifetime.

Personally I was busy looking for a new job and moving to a new city for a bunch of the year though so it kinda worked out in my favor

This list has all the years from when the chart first started! it's one of the best pages on wikipedia tbh. You just click the year and it shows u the #1s on which week and how long they reigned: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_Billboard_number-one_singles
