Hip hop literally can have more replay value if done right because it's not just straight up rapping which can actually be boring

Most people don't understand the difference.

Rap is being engrossed in the culture and when you are talking real ish and it's not about a trend the content surpasses the moment. H Rapp Brown I believe a black Panther or affialiate is the origin and back in the old days guys would "rap" to a women talking their ish to get in bed with them. Ironically they were not talking real ish but that's how they flipped it.

Kendrick is a good example.

 

Hip hop is commercial artform of the urban culture for the moment. It doesn't have to be authentic but it has to have impact and be a hit beyond people who live and breath the culture.

Drake is a good example.

 

Outside, WAP and Up are hip hop. 

Red Barz is rap.

 

I'm sure IP is more hip hop than rap but maybe both since she seems to have a longer than normal song and is probably really talking her ish beyond the moment.
