Massive era

12 million copies...Especially during the cusp from the digital to streaming ages in the music industry. We are never seeing anything as historic as this. It truly ended with Adele. 

I was only 9 when this album came out, but I do remember hearing 'Hello' everywhere. My one friend who was exclusively into Hindi music during our middle school years even knew 'Send My Love To Your New Lover' and loved that song soo much, which was surprising considering she did not listen to Western music at the time besides Ariana Grande or Billie Eilish. This album was a moment all around the world

Now this was a global moment. Hello release week I would say was the last time we had a global monoculture.

It was on social media, on the evening news, on the radio, it was everywhere. People were perched!
