Which artists come to mind as having the smallest MPG peak?

 

Beyoncé. Her peak was nowhere near Taylor, Adele, Gaga.

Not you bringing up Beyoncé when there's much more obvious picks for the smallest peaks.

 

Beyonce still has two solo 20m+ eras and five consecutive solo 10m+ eras. That's not even counting the non-stop touring and grammy smashing.

Ariana's „Thank you, next" era. Surely it was fueld by two very big hits. And top 3 hold on the hot 100 was remarkable. But it felt kinda short and not long outdrawn as we saw with other pop girls who milked their peak albums. To this day it sold 13M units worldwide, that is huge, but not when we compare it with other MPG peaks. She left with 0 Grammys, when other MPG's at their peak won 4-6 awards in one night.

Ariana's peaks are pretty similar units wise to Xtina's peak except atrl claims Xtina was huge back then while Ariana had one of the smallest MPG peaks. 

 

I wonder what causes this perception.

Ariana, tun ends up being much

smaller than Billie's debut and Lover, it only has half units of these two. You can compare it with another hitmaker Rihanna's album sales peak (GGGB) and it's still much smaller

Arianna's is insignificant compared to THE mpgs

Are Demi and Selena considered MPGs? If so, them. 
 

if not, it's Ariana. TUN was huge for her but it still pales in comparison to other MPGs biggest peaks and was much short lived as well.

P!nk was never front and center but she was always "there" from 2002-2013

If we take everyone in consideration then probably Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Pink, Ariana Grande…

Statistically it's probably Demi followed by Selena.

 

TMYLM is at 4.7m units and Revival is at 6m. Not flops by any measure but it's underwhelming for their biggest albums. 

 

There's probably some 2000s girls missing too.

How could 3 singles compete with 10 singles and digital era compete with streaming era? It's close to impossible mathematically. In TUN's case it doesn't make sense to compare total units when she didn't do promo, only had few singles (and two of them were 7-8 weeks #1s) cut the era short for personal issues etc.

Selena's peak was actually her droplets era which generated 11,2M units. And Demi's peak was actually Demi (2013) with 5,4M.

Ariana, definitely. She's always just been there except for the short moment she was a meme (TUN era)

Nope. Culturally, it was Britney. We are talking about dominant eras in terms of media presence, hits, ALBUM sales, talked about performances, etc. Rihanna was a radio hit maker. Nothing more
