TV shows like friends and Big bang theory are huge because people leave them on the tv while cooking or cleaning not really paying that much attention to them. 

Some artists are the Music equivalent to this. And the proof is that some of these artist have huge streaming numbers but the songs are not really known by the GP. 

What are perfect examples of artists that people stream in the background while doing other stuff ?

Taylor Swift's music fits nice at H&M.

It's background music but also very stimulating. I love listening to them while working

 

 

Some of their other albums are much more agressive though so I don't use those as much
