Come to Antwerp, Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt, etc. In certain areas you will feel you are not in Europe but in Kabul. But that's ok, ethnic neighborhoods have always existed, Chinatown, etc. except they didn't harras people, had mass gang fights on the streets during daytime, stabbed each other or attacked people on Christmas markets. I don't care if this hurts your feelings, I'm Middle Eastern myself so this is not coming from a place of racism, it's facts. Again a lot of these people have PTSD from wars and little education so you can't just dump them and say go work, live, or just get social benefits. Did you ever stop to think that maybe some immigrants don't wanna be ethnically German or French or whatever? They are proud of their roots and Germany is just a new home to them. Living somewhere doesn't make you ethnically from X country. Maybe after centuries of intermarriage etc yes.

Well they could be German nationals but they're not German-German and never will be. Same reason we don't consider white South African as "African". Same thing. Why is it so hard to accept ethnic differences? And who are you to decide Germany shouldn't be ethnically white? People from the Middle East, Asia and Africa still only make up a minority.

They'll say "i'm from Germany", not "i'm German". Bcs Germany is ethnically white that's just a fact. If a German went to live in Syria today, can he claim he's Syrian? The double standarts… America ethnically doesn't belong to anyone except the natives so it's easier to say i'm American, all it takes is for you to live there, AGAIN not the same as Europe so don't compare it. Europe is strong on ethnic borders not color borders. Do you comprehend this?

It's so patronising and nasty to undermine my daily lived experience as a poc queer person actually living in Europe and working with people from +100 nationalities, including refugees, and seeing the things i'm describing. You as an American have a way different perspective. You can't compare the issues in Europe with issues in the US. It's not a black and white (metaphoricaly and actually) issue, it's something way more complex your uneducated American mind can't comprehend. Come live in Germany, Belgium, France, UK etc and see it for yourself, then your essay will perhaps be a bit more nuanced. and again, why are you bringin up skin color or religion? There are Arab people that look completely white or Meditterean and it's not about skin color. Nice essay and all but do you live in Western Europe? Just look at how many young Afghan men are in the news every other week for mass fighting, stabbing, etc. I never said anything about religion. Turkish people are muslim and are just as European as christian Germans. European is a mindset and general culture nothing to do w religion. It mean you agree with democracy, secularism and minding your business. Yes not all ethnic germans adhere to those sets but we damn sure don't need an influx of more (or worse) likeminded people. These people are coming from war torn regions with religious extremism and there is a PTSD issue not being adressed. I live in a majority-migrant city in Western Europe and trust me i see the criminality and asocial behavior from certain groups (Afghans, Syrians, Moroccans) every day. But it comes down go education not religion so don't even pull this card cause again i didn't mention it even.

I agree and it's objectively true what you said BUT there is a real integration problem in Germany (Western Europe in general) that is not being adressed. Some cultures obviously just don't mix well and people from Afghanistan, Syria, etc. will have a harder time adapting a European mindset, even first and second generation immigrant children. We need to either limit an invasion or really fund a better integration program.
