I'm just capable of seeing nuance, and I'm definitely not going to dogpile on any teenager (especially a non-American) for something so minuscule and outside of their culture. Not addressing it is PR 101 in order to not bring attention to it.

You're missing context here that kpop stars issue extremely formal and over the top apologies for even the slightest misunderstanding. Girls are frequently either kicked out or resign from their groups if it surfaces that they were even somewhat mean to a classmate as a child as well. One of the very top female singers in Korea was put on an involuntary year long hiatus after being mean to a stylist in 2020 because she had a bad day. It says a lot when this happens time and again and it doesn't get the same response. Some of my own kpop favs are guilty too, this is a major issue.
