Absolutely living for what sounds like call-backs to Too Bright with hints of Put Your Back N2 It :foxaylove3:

I'm not 100% sold on It's A Mirror. Feels a bit weak after Describe or Slip Away. Excited for the album of course but I fear this isn't the strong start I've come to expect!

  • I have so many thoughts and feelings. first, the song is absolutely breathtaking. but the VIDEO??? baby, THIS is art. it feels like Mike knows something about queerness that none of us do and he is le

such a gentle and sonically rich record! i could imagine Soap&Skin featuring on Left For Tomorrow aka the highlight of the album

First listen and it's really a great and grounded album. In A Row, Dion and Clean Heart are my Top 3 :celestial:

Love this! Clean Heart through Full On is my favorite part of the album

just bought the vinyl at my local store assuming it would be the indie blue but it was the standard black :( this keeps happening to me and they don't take returns once it's opened so I'm stuck with it...oh well...in the end it's about the music!

Still too early to put in a ranking with the other albums, but actually want to retract my reservations. The sincerity in this album is way more necessary right now than shocking or spectacle-heavy work. Love that Mike can provide comfort and generosity as always.

He's not only a Perfume Genius, but also a musical genius. "Glory" is definitely at the same high level as his previous best work (if not even better). The run of the first six tracks is perfect, and "In A Row" is another great highlight in the second half.

Me & Angel destroys me every time. Sounds like a rediscovered PYBN2I gem. Those soft, mournful piano chords... i've missed them.

hope this doesn't come across as parasocial but this entire album I thought... this is the music of someone dealing with the fallout of relapsing.

I read in an interview with my local newspaper a lot of this album was born from the lockdown period, where his natural way of channeling and releasing his pain was gone (music and gigs). Hopefully that has been restored for him now!

Clean Heart is probably my favorite, such a gorgeous song :chick3:

As much as this album doesn't sound super heavy and "spetacular" I think there's still a lot to take in, so I'll probably have to listen to it a couple more times to let it all sink in. But from my first couple listens I really enjoy it, probably my favorite album released this year so far.

This album is simply exquisite. Can Mike just do no wrong? :jonny5:

The album has settled in a nice way. It sits in a different place than the albums that precede it (mostly No Shape, SMHOFI, and Ugly Season) but it has an undeniable tenderhearted quality. Although, I'm selfishly hoping he returns to a more experimental or showy form. He seemed inspired and energized before the start of the pandemic; Glory might have been necessary as a result but it feels a little like a deflation.
