correct me if something is wrong.
the song was originally intended to be part of Rita Ora's shelved second album, "O". There's reportedly a Version 1 with open verses. Later, the version featuring Rita's vocals (the l-worded one), was sent to Iggy Azalea. However, it seems Iggy's team eventually decided to remove Rita's vocals and release the track as a solo version instead. unfortunately, this is just another example of Rita falling victim to poor management decisions. for instance, with You & I, there were incredible songs that she was forced to cut, leaving fans with an album that many found underwhelming.

Actually, that's incorrect, and the story behind it is even more interesting. Between Rita's second Roc Nation album and her debut, there was another shelved project.

ย

When Rita released ORA (2012), it was a UK-only record. The original plan in 2013 was to prepare some additional songs and release a US deluxe edition of the album, similar to what Jessie J did during the Who You Are era (fun fact: Jessie's manager at the time was also Rita's manager). Rita even had a small US tour where she performed an unreleased song called (Un)Fair. She later included this song in her UK/European tour for the album in 2013.

ย

However, Roc Nation abandoned the idea because Rita was landing so many fashion deals and also started to get movie offers for both acting and soundtrack gigs. They thought it would be better to use that platform to launch an entirely new second album rather than continue promoting her debut for another year. As a result, all the songs created for the deluxe repackage were scrapped, and they started a new project from scratch (especially since Rita's first record consisted mostly of older songs from her vault and pitched demos originally intended for Rihanna and Beyoncรฉ). A few things were teased during this time: an Angel Haze collaboration/remix of How We Do, a feature with Azealia Banks, a Steve Aoki collab, and โ€”based on the timelineโ€” Bounce with Iggy Azalea likely originated from this phase as well.

ย

In 2012, Rita's management team also began managing Iggy Azalea. Iggy was booked to open for Rita's US and UK tour dates, and since Iggy was working heavily with The Invisible Men on new music, one of their original song ideas was initially pitched to Rita. However, when Roc Nation pulled the plug on the project, the track was reworked as a solo song for Iggy. It was released in early 2013, tied to a marketing opportunity with VEVO at the time. Interestingly, one of The Invisible Men's members was married to Rita and Iggy's former manager, which made it a cost-effective way to get songs done for Iggy. Ultimately, it worked out, as this connection also led to Rita recording her verse for Black Widow. When Iggy blew up with Fancy, Black Widow became an easy way to secure a second hit for both artists.

ย

Rita's second album sessions began in mid-2013. During this time, she teased an unreleased song called Head Over Heels (Out of Love) and began dating...

Calvin Harris (who did 4 songs on the "album") etc.ย

No it's actually Ian Kirkpatrick, she did Poison with Nolan Lambroza (he was dating Julia back then and Rita did so many Julia songs during this time). There's a second version by ZDot out there as well.ย

Why was she forced to cut certain songs? Why does this always happen to her specifically? This explains why she has new management now. Better late than never. I wanna know what other songs were meant for Bang before it got relegated to being an EP.

The only reason why Rita was landing so many non music deals was because sis was tired of the set backs and delays on her musical career front then her label at the time would use her venturing out as an excuse to shelve her. So dumb. It was how she was able to sue them and have an argument. An Azealia Banks collab would never come to fruition especially when they want it on Twitter and Azealia doubled down on the **** shaming with referring to her as "Rita Oral" and Rihanna's Understudy". Also Iggy revealed that she wants nothing to do with The Invisible Men because they're shadey and tend to supply the people they work with hard drugs. She said this all on Twitter. Rita better hit up Steve Aoki and secure a bop asap
