has some gems but overall her weakest album... it's not bad by any means tho

Will be playing Poolside all summer

Idk how to describe but the whole record sounds so hopeful, promising... happy I dare say

Better than her 3rd album for sure, but still didn't move me that much.

 

Her debut is one of my all time most played albums. There was a certain edge in the writing and production of that album (and the EPs before) that completely vanished and has never re-appeared since. Almost like that was a different artist. She's still good at what she does but what she does is entirely different to my ears than what she started off as.

Yeah I sometimes forget why I still check in to her new projects because it's been fairly samey with some great songs here and there. I forgot how much snappier and edgier her debut was. It's all been very floaty for a while. It's nice tho but just that. I'm relistening now and liking it more second time round. 

This was....cute but nothing new from her. 

 

The problem imo lies in the production which just feels sterile in most aspects. We all win could be a banger in the vein of Balance but then the percussions sound.... dead. And the same thing repeats on other songs like 30sth. 

 

Light Years is the immediate highlight, along with Poolside and Elevate.

 

I miss Saturn Nao so much. 

never really listened to her but gonna give this a first listen in a little bit!!

Saw her in a small venue late last year but this made me sell my ticket for the upcoming tour, none of the new songs except maybe 30 something do anything for me

but i lied actually because I just realized that it's the 15th year anniversary of Have One on Me by Joanna Newsom so i need to listen to that right now instead sorry Miss Nao
