I haven't liked a st Vincent record since St Vincent lol 

This still a perfect album. Clairo is one of the best artists of this generation.

love that one but we had that on the radio in the autumn i think and it never got going. i remember seeing somewhere that they'd had an idea that it might be a (fsvo) hit and then juna took off from nowhere instead, would love to see a video for it tho

yeah, i mean not chart songs but she has those sleeper hits ofc, i think juna and sexy for someone will go on accumulating streams over time and probably become big songs for her. she's bigger than most of the alt girls, i can probably only think of mitski who's above her

 

but i think with clairo i haven't had the idea that she wanted to be a star since the first album, i really like the sling record but it feels very difficult in a deliberate way that seemed to be intentionally trying to put people off of listening to her lol

 

charm seems to sit somewhere in the middle, it's such an easy listen but there's a lot of really intricate artistry to it, it sounds like she's loosened up a bit but not in a way that compromises what she wants to do
