so, in the 2010s, there was a girl group named G.R.L. that was managed by Robin Antin, former manager of the Pussycat Dolls

They had some hits like "Ugly Heart" and "Wild Wild Love (ft. Pitbull)" but unfortunately, one of the members, Simone Battle tragically took her own life, which caused the break to go on a hiatus.

 

Do y'all think they could've been a big girl group like 5H or Little Mix?

    Fun fact: "Ugly Heart" peaked at #2 in Australia, charting higher than any single by Little Mix or Fifth Harmony here.

    I miss them so much. Vacation, Ugly Heart and their EP all bops. :jonny6:

     

    I def think they would have gotten bigger in the US... they were already starting to perform in big award shows like the AMAs. Simone's passing was so out of the blue as well, I understand why they didn't want to continue the music/group afterwards.

    It's unfortunate tragedy struck right as momentum was beginning to gain for them. Hoping one day they can reform and give it another go!

    They got the vocals and the bops so maybe. They just lacked the crazy dance routines, cohesion  and sex appeal of their predecessors :bird:

    I really love them, "Ugly Heart" and some other bops they got to release.

    Wish we could have seen they thrive even more! So sad what happened to Simone :cries:

    I also feel like this song could have potentially been intended for G.R.L., or at least ended up with them if they had continued to release music after "Lighthouse". It's the only Luke/Cirkut track on Reflection, and typically they'd make multiple songs for artists they're actively working with/for. To me this suggests this was maybe a G.R.L. leftover or future release they sent to 5H's camp since it was no longer going to be used for G.R.L.

     

    This is purely spectulation, though. Sonically, the song is pretty reminiscent of "Show Me What You Got" though, with its energetic pop hook and more electro-urban leaning verses:
