Dua had such solid, cool aesthetic

Featured Replies

I understand, artistic growth, evolution, etc

BUT

Dua seemed to have a very clear vision and exploded the creativity of her past era with amazing execution. Specially for such challenging times

I don't know if she is going for a more minimal, liminal era, but i wouldn't even call it that, it feels flavorless, the music is good enough but there's something missing

thoughts?

I agree, the Houdini mv, while it had a cool Madonna reference, was extremely boring despite her usually serving video wise. And don’t even get me started on the TS cover :rip:

I am one of the few people on here who don’t think there’s anything wrong with this era, and that she is doing fine. That said, I will admit she never should’ve left her previous team at tap management :ace:

Sadly I agree 100%, taste btw that remix gets so much hate for no reason

I miss her H&M Summer Clearance Sale aesthetic from the New Rules/One Kiss era.

her current aesthetic is fine, she’s leaning into the very minimalistic british y2k/gen x soft club vibe which is really cool. it’s just the music that’s not clicking with the gp this time around

I actually think the two singles released so far are boring & inspired. I’m not shocked she’s not doing well this era.

Training Season and Houdini are sleeper hits actually. On the other hand, she should better find a specific aesthetic just like she did with Future Nostalgia.

Podcast has gotten to her head and thinking she is so smart now, this era is already lacking visually.

Related to looks and aesthetics:

Since the Y2K fashion or brands like Versace, Mugler and all that some pop stars have been using for years are too accessible to influencers, C-list celebs and even the gp thanks to the "fast fashion" and replicas, their stylists have been gradually switching their style to something called "Quiet luxury"

Selena, Olivia, Ariana, Dua, Billie... check out how their style is becoming a bit similar, more mature, with neutral colors and minimalist aesthetic.

It's the Kevin Parker pop curse. I don't think the songs are bad but I can't say what exactly is missing.

Her aesthetic has always been close to flawless and it still is. Y'all are just overly dramatic.

I think that, despite maybe not connecting, her two singles have felt like a very natural product of her previous music and the art and aesthetic she’s surrounded herself with. At the very least it feels like it’s a true expression of where she’s at rn and I think that’s admirable

I literally think this very same thing every day :monkey:

right? I think her black leather looks she's been wearing lately are bad ass. Only thing is I think her hair needs to be a bit redder.
