Do you care about the Grammy's? Why?

Featured Replies

The Grammy's have always been a highly coveted honor for musicians in the music industry. As one of the most prestigious and highly recognized awards in the field of music, winning a Grammy is seen as a major milestone for artists. However, over the years, the relevance and credibility of the Grammy's have been questioned by many within the industry and by music lovers alike. From allegations of favoritism and lack of diversity in the nomination process to the exclusion of certain genres and artists, the Grammy's have faced their fair share of controversies. And with the rise of streaming platforms and the changing landscape of the music industry, some argue that the Grammy's have failed to keep up and truly reflect the current state of music.

Also, let's be real; why do we, as a society, place so much value on the opinions of a group of older, predominantly white men? Is it fair for them to dictate what is considered "good" and "worthy" in an ever-evolving and diverse industry? Or do they have the tea? :sistrens:

Taylor cares a lot about them, so we know it is a big deal for her. So I'm happy if she wins something, but I don't care for these awards more than that.

Being a Stan I’d say it’s a cycle of caring and not caring

This voter seems to be both uninformed and biased. Lana's overall body of work doesn't suddenly become bad just because of one bad performance. Moreover, he appears reluctant to vote for Boygenius, possibly due to bitterness over their emerging prominence in rock music—something unrelated to their actual artistic output. It's evident that he struggles to separate the art from the artist and to evaluate albums individually. One aspect involves determining the quality of a specific album deserving recognition, such as an AOYT (Album of the Year), while another involves personal biases surrounding a particular artist.

It's a meaningless award

but I'm here for stans being a mess when their fav loses

They mean nothing, just a popularity contest for the most part.

BUT!

They provide so much MESS on here that I enjoy the meltdowns.

it's the music award of white america, so it makes sense that it's been losing credibility and relevance for years... i used to care 15 years ago when i too young to know what it really was (like who was really voting) but it's obvious it doesn't determine what is quality to anyone with any awareness now

They are irrelevant but I love the looks and some performances, the actual awards (literally speaking) are a non event and everybody forget the day after.

Not really. It’s a sham award these days. Too much politics tbh.

I've never been interested in any of the award shows except maybe the VMAs at some point because the mpg used to peform there and give their best. We got iconic moments. I have never ever watched the Grammy Awards nor read the list of nominees and winners. Awards mean nothing, it's just a figurine delivered to someone by a small group of people who chose them. It should not be an indication of what's good and what's not. Many artists have never won one despite an undeniable impact and quality songs while some artists' wins can objectively be subject to discussions.

Artists must be happy winning some awards but let's be real, the biggest gift they can receive is the support from the public, not a figurine.

Yall make this thread every year :suburban:

anyways if you are not in a position to get a nom or win I never understood why ppl get invested in it so much

the entitlement surrounding the awards is so weird and it’s always the millennial generation of stans too :rip:

I only care what my faves and ATRL's MPGs do, if Grammys are in that stuff, then I might care about it but it's just something 'collateral' for me :giraffe:

If Taylor doesn't win Song & Record OTY I will care but if she doesn't :clack:

a high score by fantano has more meaning than a grammy since at least he explains the reason behind it, instead this award is just based on votes of people who just happen to be in the industry
