Raye's first mini-album (Polydor is such a joke lmao) had a lot of potential hits with infectious melodies and A tier toplines but I feel like it's super looked over... I honestly prefer it over the new album. What's your fave track?

 

 

 

 

 

 

Love of your life is her best song. I love songs with unique structures. Every verse is different and the song keeps building and building to that dramatic "I'm so so sorry" post chorus. Then she ties it all up with the earworm final verse/outro. People really overuse the term "pop perfection" but that's exactly what she delivered here.

 

Natalie Don't (Russian number 1 hihi), Secrets, Please Don't Touch and Regardless are all great too. Justice for All My Love which was left orphaned.

Change Your Mind made me fall in love with Raye in the first place. The atypical strong structure and build up throughout the bridge are sooo good.

 

All Dressed Up is also great - particularly the “It’s a Tuesday but I won’t tell if you don’t” line

I kinda feel the opposite like this album was very label forced and I always felt like the Natalie Don’t love was forced cuz she was trying her hardest to get that hit her label wanted  her first mixtapes and her debut album are way better

Always looooved these songs. She's such a good writer. Shame she doesn't like most of these songs cause her label forced her to make these

Tbh the only thing that felt forced were her generic dance collaborations which only appears on this project once (Secrets), while the rest of the songs are very typical Raye... Natalie Don't is one of the best pop songs in recent memory despite receiving no push on radios, playlists or promotion, such a wasted hit!   

I do think this project was very personal to raye at the time, a shame it wasn't supported at all. 

 

Maybe you're thinking of Call on Me, which she was begging for people to support so she could get that album out.

Love Me Again was my lockdown song

Right? Pretty sure California Dreamin was recorded back then too, could have added that as well

Godifornia Dreamin... she still needs to drop that song idc

So good, I'm glad that her music has progressed to where she wants it and I think M21CB is her best project so far, but she also totally bodied this dance pop sound for so long

should've been a full album with Treat You Right, Thank You, Make It to Heaven, Stay (Don't Go Away), Blue, All Of My Love, Tequila, BED, imagine the numbers.....

she was one of my most played artists during 2019-2021  and i'm not that into her new sound
