Rated R clears. It's funny when people pretend Anti is her only good album when Rated R is genuinely up there as well.

Unapologetic is my favorite album between the two, but I prefer the cover and singles of Rated R.

  • Rated R is Rihanna's best album. Period. The 1-2-3-4-5 punch of Russian Roulette, Fire Bomb, Rude Boy, Photographs and G4L ended some careers.

The lack of taste

Unapologetic stood the test of time unlike RR (the latter wins album cover and that’s about it really)

damn it’s so wild because back in the day Rated R was my absolute fav period

however… Unapologetic has aged so amazingly that it’s the album of hers I return to the most

but also… Rated R has Rihanna’s best song (Fire Bomb) and some other stunners (Russian Roulette, Te Amo, Cold Case Love)

but then at the same time the lows on Rated R are lower than the lows on Unapologetic!

I think all in all… I have to go with the wonderful Unapologetic :clap3: it’s just so f*cking good the whole way through (minus Right Now, obviously lol…)

oh also, drag me for this but Unapologetic has the better album cover :sorry:

photoshoots are equal though i’d say!!

While I think Unapologetic was a bit unfairly maligned at the time, it still doesn't quite match Rated R for me. Maybe it would have a chance with an edit.

I think about this a lot tbh

like... that pitchfork review is SO unnecessarily brutal and diminishes the purpose of the album to simply her reigniting her relationship with Ch*is Br*wn, where in actuality the album taps into SO many other lyrical topics. Diamonds feels like a love song for her fans, Phresh Out the Runway and Pour It Up feel like unapologetic odes to being a boss,  What Now feels introspective and deals with anxious feelings, and the absolutely STUNNING Get It Over With takes those feelings slow and reassures the listener that it's okay to cry... it's got great vulnerability and power throughout the whole thing
