    I think, since you wouldn't use that term IRL probably, then in your head or if you happen to be reading posts out loud then you read ava-tar with ava sounding like Ava Max. The other is maybe reserved for fans of Avatar the movie series and we wouldn't want to start a stan war with them because they're lowkey scary!
