Clubbing Alone?

Featured Replies

So I've always been pretty introverted when it came to going to bars and clubs, not so much because of anxiety but just because I didn't really know if I would enjoy it. I enjoy more intimate outings with friends. I turned 22 the other day, and I don't know, I just felt like perhaps I should try something new and have these experiences while I'm still young instead of regretting not doing it later on. However, my small group of friends are kind of like me in that they would never go clubbing. So the only way I could try clubbing would be to go alone. Have any of you guys tried clubbing alone? Is it scary? Is it still fun? I want to give it a go, but I don't know if it would be as enjoyable going in alone.

It’s not worth the money and time imo. Yes maybe you’ll meet some people but most likely no so what’s the point?

I need to be very drunk for confidence but I love it! I just stand in one place and dance and occasionally pop to the smoking area to chat to strangers

I think if I were to go clubbing, my main objective would be to just have fun and dance, as opposed to meeting someone. My worry here is that, in the past, when I did go clubbing, everyone seemed very much to themselves and no one was really dancing and letting loose so I ended up leaving and not trying it again. This was a straight club though, so maybe they were just weirdos.

It depends what your goal is. I used to go to clubs and bars myself all the time.

If looking for a hook up, I’d pick bars with older crowds, and would end up drinks paid all night and at some fit divorcee’s house that night.

If you’re looking to socialise and make friends, go somewhere younger with music you like, and start chatting with people as you’re queuing for drinks.

I think a lot of people need to learn it’s okay to do things alone. I club alone, take myself to dinner alone, vacation alone. It’s not that I don’t have friends, but we don’t always want to do the same things and if I spent time waiting for others to be able or willing to do what I want, I’d still be waiting!

Go, and plan on just dancing and having fun. Maybe you’ll meet some nice people, maybe you’ll dance on your own all night!

My only caveat it be carful with substances, even alcohol when you’re out alone. If someone offers you a drink make sure you see the bartender pour it, don’t get too wasted, etc.

Otherwise, have a blast!

Choose your club carefully, in some places people just stand there and do nothing :skull: Pick few clubs and see what's happening, you can always leave if you feel uncomfortable

i can NOT do it :deadbanana2:

i get my confidence from being around my friends when i’m at a bar/club (plus points if i’m with my pretty friends)

I can do cinema, gigs and vacations alone but personally idk about clubbing, I really think I wouldn’t enjoy it that much.

The ideal would be to make friends in the queue before you get in, or hang around in the smoking area and chat to people. Easier said than done though, and you risk overstaying you’re welcome with people lol which is an awkward feeling.

Do it, it's an amazing experience and a great feeling to just dance all night and not being held back by or having to rely on anyone else.

I did it last night and met a bunch of nice and older gay people.

Was expecting a younger crowd, but still had fun. You should try it! Just let someone you trust know where you are. :gaycat:

I think a bar/lounge is better when you’re going alone. Start small - maybe the bar at your AMC before watching a movie alone? Ease your way into it

I couldn't do it but im only saying this because I suffer social aniexty even going to concerts alone scare me tho I do it.

Go with your gut and if your the type of person who makes friends easy go ahead just be careful

I've only done it once (my friends left the club around 5am and I wanted to be there for a bit longer) and it was awful, kept getting harassed with men touching me and kissing me even though I said no :mazen:

I'm a lot more confident by myself. My friends are kind of a safespace but when I'm thrown out there it's like my body goes into survival mode. You should try it sis it's really fun

this is why I go to concerts alone

Especially when I travel, I always go clubbing alone. It really was something I needed to developed when I lived abroad by myself during Uni.

Going to clubs alone is great to meet new people and hook up. But that only work for clubs. Most bars are weird to be yourself. Though some bars are OK for it too.

When I went to London I went clubbing alone. At first I danced by myself and everyone were giving me a weird look but instead of making myself smaller I went harder then I started dancing with a group of hot German girls and turned to the king on the club :gayliecat1:  Literally everyone wanted my Instagram and I made friends that I went clubbing with a few months later when I came back. Confidence is magnetic

I don't even like clubbing, since the clubs suck where I live. If I were in a bigger city, that had EDM clubs, I'd regularly go out. As it stands, though, if I were to go out by myself, I'd just sit at the bar, chill and watch people. Eventually, I feel like someone is going to just strike up a conversation with you. Be willing to meet new people, have new experiences and just enjoy life. Always be aware of your surroundings and drinks, though.

I always went clubbing alone. It's the only way. You can do your own thing without worrying about what someone else wanted to do, you can meet new people, you can hook up without anyone knowing. It will make you come out of your shell.

This. I only do it when i travel alone. Like i dont know anyone there so i can just do whatever i like.

Compare to going alone at a regular place in my own city, i would feel embarrassed if i run to someone i know. It would be so awkward, i may try it sometimes in the future though.
