But you would be the first to complain if we used pure album sales from 2000 only :lmao:

Some girls can't make the top half of the BB200 with Spanish albums and here Shakira's is about to hit 2M album equivalents WW. Let it all out.

Why would I complain about albums sales from 2000? My faves 2000 album sold over 10M copies. And how is that relevant in 2017? :deadbanana3:

Youtube views dont count to determine albums sales and will never do and for very good reasons :dies:

It's a Spanish-language album that she didn't even promote at all. The Beyonce stans are so bitter. :rip:

Anyway, I love the album. :clap3:

I'll remember that the next time Diamond albums are mentioned.

As for the latter part, you'll have to take that discussion to IFPI and the RIAA. Until then, we're not excluding YouTube from album equivalents, especially when it's representative of Latin America and most global streams. :sorry:

That doesn't make any sense. How can you be global if you can't sell more than 68k first week?

Because people know who you are and listen to your music. Do you think more people in the world have heard Chantaje (a Spanish-language song) or Chained to the Rhythm and Formation? Let's be honest here.

Still makes no sense.

The album isn't selling in North-America, isn't selling in Europe, isn't selling in Asia, isn't selling in South America (because according to you nobody buys music there).

She's still a big popstar in South America and has a lot of youtube views. But a global pop girl? no.

She's global enough to get people to listen to her music all over the world, which is why she gets such high streams (and it's not just Latin America). She's not going to sell a lot, especially a Spanish-language album, because most of her audience don't buy music.

Again, do you think more people in the world have heard Chantaje (which wasn't promoted at all) or Chained to the Rhythm, Bon Appetit and Swish Swish (heavily promoted) combined? Or Formation and Drunk In Love combined? You didn't answer the question. The reality is that the vast majority of the people have never heard these current songs from the artists you'll insist are actually "global pop girls". Of course they'll have significantly higher album sales; they sell English-language album in the few countries that still buy albums. :rip:

Looks like Youtube views don't translate to album sales

Too bad you're fave is getting neither. At least we can pretend The Cure and Million Reasons are hits.

Different continents, different languages.

Chantaje was a ww hit too. So fans could be buying her album.

CTTR is an English-language song from an American pop star who had recent big hits and was heavily promoted (the Grammys are aired around the world) so it had a huge advantage and it was a minor "hit" at best. Chantaje is a Spanish-language song that was a "hit" (not really lol) through heavy streaming and some minor sales in countries that don't buy albums. Despite that, it's safe to say more people have heard the latter. As for the albums they're both from, the former has the advantage of sales in the Anglosphere (essentially the only place other than Japan and Germany that are buying some albums).

CTTR is #11 biggest hit of 2017 so far. Not minor at all.

And still, everybody knows Chantaje around the world but nobody is buying her album. That tells you how 'global' she is.

If "everyone knows" of Spanish-language Chantaje and it's more recognizable than the (supposedly) 11th biggest hit of 2017, that's just a confirmation that she's global.

Worry about your fave Tity flopping next week.

OT: Good numbers for Shakira :clap3: it's a spanish album with no promo so it's expected. Not surprised sad Hive members are already here with their bitter posts :doc: glad my fave didn't sell more than half her discography in a single country :alexz:
