but he was also going up against Paul Abdul in her imperial phase and was never beating her  

 

I noticed award shows from the 80s used to award an act heavily for one album cycle and less so for the ones afterwards regardless of success

Mostly  because Avril is a Canadian 

 

And  between  J.Lo  and  Avril,  Avril  has  become  a  legacy  act  in  term  of  music.  J.Lo  might be a bigger celebrity  but not in the music industry.  

Lana not having a single Grammy and then Billie Eilish does. 

I'll never forgive grammys for what they did to Bjork

Dolly Parton is the only artist to be nominated for a Grammy in 7 consecutive decades (60s-20s).

 

She has also won a competitive Grammy in all but in decade since 70s (90s).
