Post SBHTS Spotify Push Comparison

How is it fair to compare when it was the first Rihanna performance in 7 years though? She obviously did amazing but I don't understand why people act like you can compare to artists who have stayed in the spotlight before performing.

Wouldn’t that be even more impressive that Rihanna pulled such numbers with music released 7 years to over a decade ago and 15 years ago ?

I mean, Rihanna is big,  no one should disputing that. But the comparison gets shaky year to year. Which is why we can only compare the last 5 or so years.

Concerning Superbowl, it doesn't always give people the longterm boost they're looking for. I say that when looking at how the most viewed of all time didn't necessarily smash with their next record.

Then you have those who had a well remembered show with meh ratings due to controversy and the game itself. Only to smash with their next album.

how does having less users correlate to how many entries you can achieve? :deadbanana2:

Well she was streaming poison then. Why r u so adamant about how much her Spotify stats flopped in 2017. Touch grass

Her overall/career streams would definitely be bigger if she had released projects the past years, but I just don't know if people would have been that much into her SB performance (not because of her, but because of what it means for her in 2023)

Because iTunes was still somewhat relevant back then and she pretty much clogged the entire top 10 on both song & album charts. Plus this was before Gaga turned into the “streaming artist” she is today (I say it like that bc before 2017/2018 her streaming stats were terrible)

:ahh:

It’s literally growing yearly :rip: more to do with Spotify growing

The way some of the fomos here were pretending this is the normal boost everyone gets everytime lol

If anything that impacts the amount of streams not the actual positions.

This argument is dumb

Literally NO ONE is denying Rihanna is the biggest hitmaker of this century and her streams stay high.

This. Gaga SLAYED the sales field, unlike Rihanna.

GaGa’s career is built upon cheap discounts, the monsters have just become desensitized about it at this point

Imagine how much a Rihanna Greatest Hits would’ve sold if she was a 90s singer

Why r we even trying to argue with known OGHs she could have charted 20 songs and would still be bashed. Don't even bother with them.

This thread giving insecure and jobless

? Multiple users were claiming the boost Rihanna got is "the norm", and that's clearly not the case as proven by this thread. People are always making threads about numbers, why is it only an issue now? :deadbanana4: I'm so lost.

thank you for proving my point

Congratulations to Rihanna for achieving this :clap3:

Gaga's push mainly came from sales, hence why The Fame returned to the top 10 on the BB200 and BR re-entered the Hot 100 despite her streaming numbers not being huge. Different artists with different strengths in different years obviously are gonna have different boosts.
