I don’t believe in awarding anyone because they “deserve” it for their past work.  This is how we got the Beck winning over Beyoncé situation in the first place.   I would need to listen to their album and compare it to the others released that year.

This woman is all about the MUSIC. No gimmicks. Doesn’t participate in behind the scenes politics of it all. She will fight for what’s right and gather your ass if you dare pull a Fugees on her. 
 

And her music speaks for itself! I just know she will serve us with another quality album in 2040.
