Not Ava a european pop act 

Gonna go with Ava... but honestly both of these albums are majorly unappreciated by pop fans / poptimists.  Dare I say they're... misunderstood?

Charli > Ava.

 

Charli still has an element of cool factor to her music, Ava is obscenely corny but sometimes pulls out a bop here and there.

very much agree with this

I really like Avas new album but CRASH was peak Charli. I still use a lot of the songs and have attached many personal memories with them + the Crash tour. So for now I’ll go with Crash!
 

 

Dirt Femme kinda defeats both tho.

that’s the most off putting excuse to defend a popstar of being called boring/nothing special but somewhat it works?  she’s so faceless and never brings something new to the table. She’s a faceless pop star who don’t want to act deep or pretentious, she just does pure pop to make the gays bop and that’s all

I mean I don’t think “faceless” and lacking a cool factor are really similar concepts.  Ava’s music is “basic” yes but she has a very distinct style and musical perspective.  It’s cheesy with 0 self awareness or hint of irony, but that’s a sorta refreshing style and I think that she sings her songs with 100% seriousness is why I find her appealing as a pop star. Pair that with state of the art dance songs and lots of nods to past pop hits, it’s sorta a funhouse mirror effect .. high camp.  
 

but I love charli.  She’s probably my fave artist that didn’t debut before 2000 so while im voting for ava here charli is p much unbeatable as a whole package.

Crash is way better, but D&D is an excellent carefree experience that leaves me pretty much as satisfied as I’d want to be from Ava

Both are great pop albums, but I give it to CRASH for a bit more variety and experimentation. Plus, the CRASH bonus tracks >>>

D&D was so forgettable to me. The only song that stuck with me was Sleepwalker, the rest of the album just sounded like the same song over and over. No idea what ATRL sees in it. Crash wins.

I'm not really savvy to the Ava lore, I always assumed she gained popularity because her music heavily relies on old genres/trends/sampling.

 

The extra corniness comes from her delivery. Its not that she's a bad singer or anything, but like, her singing style is kinda like those royalty free singers that could be your neighbor or a stranger on the street.

Definitely Crash, an amazing album on launch, an amazing album now, and will continue to be an amazing album.

 

I actually like D&D too, which I find a little more impressive with how much I hated her debut. But it probably doesn't even touch Charli's worst record.
