iiO Appreciation Thread

Featured Replies

iiO was a US-based house/dance/trance duo. Especially since the guy in the group is shady, we're mostly appreciating vocalist and Pakistani queen Nadia Ali :lakitu: "Ali is perhaps best known for her characteristic voice and vocal abilities. [Her work has been described] as 'masterfully encapsulating euphoric and melancholic, Ali's signature music style sees Eastern mystique caressed with intelligent electronica and fortified with soul'. Her debut album was noted for a blend of electronica, acoustic, and Middle Eastern melodies."

Americans are probably most familiar with the TIMELESS smooth dance bop "Rapture (Tastes So Sweet)" which hit the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 in 2002, a year which was certainly not the strongest year for dance music

Moderate international hit At the End is also nice

If I planned the singles from iiO's debut album, I definitely would have made Tantric the second or third single - AHH at the Middle-Eastern vocal flair and instrumental :wanda:.

My singles 4 and 5 would be a slay as well

And we love a 9+ minute bop, WE NEVER GET THOSE ANYMORE :cm:

I recommend checking out Poetica in whole, my next faves are Rebel and Hangin On.

and my girl has great songs as a solo act as well

"Fantasy (Morgan Page Remix)" was nominated for Best Remixed Recording at 53rd Grammy Awards

do we stan?

and please listen to Tantric, I'm obsessed :jonny5: @naval23

One of the top comments on the Rapture vid being "God damn it hasn't aged a bit, sounds as fresh now as it did back then" - we love to see it :clap3:

this remix at a gay club was everything. One of da best dance recordings of all time

The night I laid my eyes on you
Felt everything around me move
Got nervous when you looked my way
But you knew all the words to say
Then your love slowly moved right in
All this time, oh my love where you been

I remember singing:

Me? I'm horny don't you know, my love I want you sooo...

:rip:

Love iio and just any of that smooth 00s progressive/trance/electronica

I love nadia ali and its sad she doesnt get more attention because shes a great songwriter and singer.

She stopped doing music in 2015 because she said it burned her out. But shes active again.

I think her best work was when she was with iio. Her and marcus poser made magic together. While i do like her solo work, it doesnt compare to anything iio related.

In 2011 marcus poser put out an iio album with old unreleased iio tracks. nadia ali was not pleased, there was some type of fallout between them. The album was called Exit 110.

Yeah, I wanna know the exact details of the fallout. And not Marcus releasing an album with her vocals like 6 years after she left the group :skull: I didn't listen to the second album because of that, but I guess my interest has been piqued.
