Upon its release, "Don't Bother" received generally mixed reviews from music critics, who praised Shakira's vocals but felt that the lyrics of the song were strange. Commercially, the song wasn't very successful, despite being the lead single off her fully English album, it only peaked at #42 on Hot 100.

 

Besides the GP being tasteless, this is probably one of Shakira's strongest songs, a career highlight and lyrically, whew. Let's take a minute for that damn bridge, I'M ON THE FLOOR.

:clap3:that bridge always hits so hard. Yes, the lyrics are avant garde and what about it? That’s what makes the song iconic. Definitely a highlight of her discography! :hippo:

One of Shakira's best songs :jonnycat:. I guess it didn't work better because the GP was expecting something different from her.

the lyrics on this song are so funny/ridiculous (in a good way) and the music video is amazing especially when she starts crushing that car. too bad people didn't appreciate it enough.

Its one of my favorite songs from her in English. This is basically the Shakira from Piez Descalzos or Donde Estan los Ladrones… but the gp does not like this Shakira.. they like the latina one with the big bangers where she dances. The rocker Shakira only works with her latin audience…at least it used to…cause rock its pretty much dead now in any language

Great grrat song. I prefer Animal City from that album!
