Imagine working the way she did for 40+ Years and still caring about what people have to say, when your just living the fruits or you labour.

I mean...i agree with most of the OP but let's not even put Madame X and Like a Prayer on the same level cause...just no 

And MDNA was a dated safe record when it released. Like a Virgin wasn't. At least back then. 

 

I do think that since Madonna is the artist that has albums like Like a Prayer, Erotica, Ray of Light, Confessions on her backlog, it also means stuff like MDNA and Hard Candy will always sound ridiculous and less acceptable somehow. 

 

Like...Hard Candy was and still is dragged. But then you see people stanning Ariana's Sweetener as one of the best pop albums in recent years and i'm like... it's literally a worse Hard Candy. Why is one accepted and has 80+ on metacritic and the other one dragged?  It's the same sounds from one of the same main producers but 10 years later. I remember people dragging her for the "see my booty get down" on that record. They wouldn't say that if JLo recorded that like now that's she's older than Madonna when she recorded Hard Candy, lmao.

 

Anyway, a lot of what she goes through now she wouldn't be dragged if she was 30 years younger. And people had to witness her going from a classy married woman in England to regressing to whatever she was before having kids. If people didn't thought that was cute for her in her mid to late 30's, imagine now in her 60's.

I think part of the reason why is because her geriatric (white) gay fans were truly horrified that instead of getting COADF Part 2 they got an urban music-inspired album. They’re still not over it. I don’t think my theory is that big of a stretch either considering their reaction to Starrah.
