It's such a strangely good year. It was definitely the bridge between the peak of the 2012 EDM era and the 2014 ''softer'' (for a lack of better terms) pop era. 2013 is a transformative year for pop music, it wasn't the same after it

goddd that was kind of a flop year for my personal life (just very boring) but in music it was phenomenal 

The Next Day, Days Are Gone, The Electric Lady, NTMT, Reflektor, AM, Beyoncé… so much excellence

The way the whole year was marked by elaborate rollouts and she overshadowed EVERY SINGLE ONE of them with that digital drop.

Yes!!!!!!! for almost all of the albums on the OP!! what a year! the beyonce selftitled, what a moment. daft punk, timberlake, wow. even this drake album had absolute bops, just hold on we're going home is perfection. 

 

And despite all of that it was also an important year for ex-acts on pop when they solidified themselves as pop artists and not exactly disney/teen/nick acts (selena/ariana/demi/miley) with miley being next level that year, but it was nice for ALL of them! come & get it/slow down, heart attack, the way

Iggy Azalea releasing her best song in her whole discography that year with Change Your Life (feat. T.I.)

 

It was a decent year, musically; some great releases as stated in the OP and some other really terrible high-profile music... What's so important about 2013 though is that it was the end of the pop reign. Nothing was the same after that.

2013 just screams BEYONCÉ. My God... that drop day was soooooo iconic.

The videos... the social media reactions from basically the entire industry... the sales predictions going from "she's gonna flop so hard" to "" every single time it kept increasing.

 

Truly a moment.
