Interestingly enough, this is a very convenient period of time because gives many groups a chance to become "the best" within 4th gen

Otherwise they will have to compete with the BTSs, the Blackpinks, theTWICEs, etc and they wouldn't be able to claim those titles that easily.

I don't think the industry actively pushed for this division (or they did?) but fans did latch at it because it was the most convenient 

 

I am not discrediting 4th gen cuz my faves are bringing so much of that missing charm that was lacking from 3rd gen GGs lately, I am just describing what I see.
