I randomly ordered the Rihanna book the other day and it arrived just now. It’s actually gorgeous

I understand it is difficult to trust her and that everything seems a bit off for some at the moment but we need to believe in her. Rih would not have agreed to do the SB if she was going to give a weak performance. She knows the pressure, she has already said she is nervous. Just because she is seen out one night does not mean she is not rehearsing behind the scenes. Isn’t Apple recording a documentary about it? It would need a lot of content and footage and they would not wait until Jan to start filming.

 

The thing I am confused about is the album. She has spoken of it being experimental and unexpected so she surely has the album ready? But with her latest comments I am confused. Could she be trying to throw us off guard? Also before LMU release she was seen in the studio so idk if this was for the album or for LMU? I am undecided on whether to expect new music soon or not but I am rooting for it. I think we have to remember Beyoncé in 2013 when she kept silent about new music and then we got the surprise drop. Something similar could be happening with R9. Do we see Lana being papped going to studios or Justin Bieber or anyone? A lot of artists just record albums without everything being documented. Surely she has been working on the album for a long time over these years and has good material to go? ANTI is timeless and she probably wants more timeless music so when it was recorded doesn’t matter…

 

Anyone have any thoughts on R9 and what are your predictions? I hope I am not setting myself up for a very rude awakening in 2023. LMU was great and I love it but it is hard to be excited about a soundtrack. I want a full Rih era with iconic looks and magazine covers. She hasn’t done a magazine cover in forever! I think she could come back so strong if she strikes soon. Otherwise I think the hype will be tarnished and people will be quick to label her a has been and a “flop” because by her standards LMU was not exactly SMASH hit despite high peaks. 
 

 

I for one am really sick of other fan bases talking about LMU payola and crap streams. I want her to show them she still got it.

I feel like she let herself be seen going to the studio to hype up LMU's release, and she's most likely recording music for R9 at home or whatever (it might be the delusion speaking rn).

Just my guess but I wouldn't be surprised if she only attends so ASAP can get a bigger paycheck for these club performances. I'm sure promoters would happily pay more to have Rihanna attend in addition to ASAP performaning.

I’ve decided that she should close the halftime show with Umbrella, doing it’s music video choreo with the umbrellas, while little sparkly fire thingys rain down the whole stadium. The drums, the synths, its the perfect song for it.

 

And she should bring out MJ as a hologram guest to do the mama-say mama-sa’s on DSTM with her. And maybe she can do some hee-hees and they can moonwalk together. This show is all I think about I swear lmao I can come up with anything

She was on Vogue US in May this year

 

Also yeah, she was posting Insta stories of herself in the studio with Kuk in 2019 yet we didn't get pics of her heading there at all. That being said, I can't see her dropping the album before the SB, but I can totally see her announce a tour and album right after her show

 

I'll be shocked if they don't capitalize on it, considering that's probably gonna be the biggest momentum she'll ever get music-wise

I can see Umbrella being the closing track now.

WFL is great but Umbrella is thee Rihanna song lets be real. It bangs just as much as WFL if not more. And it also has this epic/euphoric feel to it which WFL lacks imo. But she needs to perform it properly lol not like she has been in the past 10 years, totally strips the song out of its glory.

That said, only the Swifties should be talking because their fave is the ONLY MPG who is heavily commercially successful enough to warrant a level of arrogance in 2022.

 

Beyonce too, to an extent, but she’s nowhere near as hungry for commercial success as she once was and doesn’t really care either. 

 

Rihanna still has so much left in her, just look at her streams and equivalent units. 
 

The others, aside from Grande, Eilish and Lipa fans, need to keep their mouthes closed.

Girl what lol WFL is literally the epitome of euphoria 

 

Also she does a much better job of performing WFL than Umbrella live...another reason why I prefer it as the closer 

WFL for closing 100%.

Regarding the SB, I think WFL is the perfect closer tbh.

WFL would be a great closer for sure, better than Umbrella imo

 

Personally I'd go with Diamonds cause it's both emotional and euphoric/anthemic (and the live version is always amazing)

Diamonds into WFL would be the most epic finish! 

I need the reggae/dancehall album that she promised to us on 2018. She could change songs, and make a lot of new ones, and also do experiments as she told us but this genre is her signature. She is Bajan and she sound so good doing that. 

 

Diamonds has a nonfficial reggae version on YouTube that is cool. All her greatest hits sound good on reggae version. 

 

She also could give a comeback to the dreadlocks.

This is a fact. Most of the time we see her leaving the studio/dentist/restaurant it’s definitely her (well, her team) calling the papz. We never see her when she doesn’t want to be seen. 

The Weeknd’s doing the sountrack for Avatar. Now i’m scared LMU won’t win :(
