I don’t think Columbia had any ill intent towards Normani but I do sometimes believe RCA pulled out of releasing the “string of singles” they had lined up when watching what else was happening in the market.

They want Normani to storm but with low or no competition. I feel like Q1 2023 is that space but they might miss the window as usual. Just unleash Candy Paint, hot video, big radio tour, tv promo in the US + UK, and then get that dang album out.

With all respect, Normani has a much larger audience and reach than Chloe and her and Coco don’t even do the same thing… at all. It’s interesting how I hear them being compared so often.

I’m not saying they should be compared. I’m saying RCA was watching what other labels were doing with the girls who “the people” are comparing. If some kind of formula for success arose, they would have slapped it on Normani so quick and rolled an album out.

 

A lot of these same labels have been doing this with their new pop & rap acts (example: that annoying period during 2021 where everyone was doing non-stop tiktok stunts & rollouts to get attention like when Halsey said she was forced to record tiktoks or her label would punish her or whatever ).

I would be extremely careful with that assumption. Because if that were true Fair would have done a lot better. It’s never good to underestimate these things and never good to overestimate. There are no guarantees. Twitter can be extremely miss leading in terms of impact and pull and I think people need to put things in perspective. I don’t think Normani or Chloe at this point have more pull over one another. A year ago or 2 I would say yes but now it’s the same. And I hope Normani team is not basing their moves on what another artists is doing that is a recipe for disaster. You have to believe in your artist or in Sza case believe in yourself

I think the  team should have had normani perform Motivation and Wild Side in South Korea. She could of had huge fanbases catch their attention on a beautiful dancer and had huge artist want to collab with Mani.

@WheresJay there were rumors last summer that David LaChapelle shot an album cover for Mani. Any truth to that??

Apparently Candy Paint is coming in February…5h’s biggest hit was released during this month so it’s a good sign.

To everyone excited...please have a room for disappointment and make it a big ass room.

Not you trying to correlate the month of 5H's biggest hit to the possibility of this being a big hit. How far have we fallen as a fanbase that we're just grasping at straws at this point. 

 

But if it's indeed coming out in February, I hope Normani and RCA become very active ASAP - WEEKS of promo blitz BEFORE and AFTER the single release would be very wise in reminding that Normani is a musician as well as to attain chart longevity.

Booty on bubonic is already iconic I have a feeling if it features Doja it could debut higher than Wild Side since there’s so much anticipation for her next song after Fair flopped

According to FTN, things are actually moving. In silent, but moving still. She also, of course, scrapped the leaked tracks from the album.

Apparently Insomnia and 1-on-1 were scrapped. Hate that because I love them both. I kinda have this feeling they were maybe testing waters with these leaks, but also, keeping her fans fed while she was gone.
