i really don't care about gaga's early peaks because even though songs like paparazzi, alejandro, bad romance etc didn't reach number one, people still recognize them as classics and all went top 10. and to be fair, britney had it way worse 

Gaga and her label didnt really cared for #1s back then because her album was selling like hot cakes + getting a top10 was already seen as huge success in the industry.

 

#1 or its a flop became a thing in 2019-2020 and there are many reasons for that 

1- Ariana getting multiple #1 debuts in 2019 

2- Gaga , Ariana , Billie and new popstars like LNX , Lizzo getting #1s 

3- Taylor Swift failing to get a #1 song in 2019

 

stans went crazy over #1s since then and it became #1 or its a flop.

the fame/monster had: 230m grossing tour (biggest debut tour of all time), 2 #1s (7 top 10s), 5 grammys, 7 vmas, 16m album sales, impact, magazine covers everywhere, iconic performances etc

 

teenage dream's album sales look good now because it include streaming numbers these days (TD: 27m EAS) but even then the fame/monster is still miles bigger (41m EAS)

 

are these katycats new and never experienced 2008-2012 Ga orwhat? even rihanna had bigger albums/eras than teenage dream
