It had so much potential with the sets but they ruined it with the execution and poor editing as usual..

TEOG >>>>>> SL + MR. It has aged like a fine wine. Her closeup shots with the pink-purple lighting are gorge and those custom Versace outfits are stun. It's an actual ~aesthetic video, unlike the other two.

TEOG was and still is a disaster. It’s exactly why the single, despite being one of her best musically, is completely forgotten.

pls the editing is not bad, go re-watch SL/MR for that and what more can you do when its a soundtrack single that’ll obv have takes of both Ga & scenes from the film itself

SL wasn’t trying to be an aesthetic video, it’s meant to be a camp, retro, and silly video. 

 

It’s not great by any means, but it’s not boring like TEOG which had a nice hand in killing that era (before she really killed it with the VMA performance)

i'm mega mad Paris isn't the first date anymore, it was so exciting to me

but i won't complain, some don't even have dates

Also it was the reason the song didn't hit #1.

 

Back then everyone was PERCHED AF for a new Gaga video, her delivering such a boring video was my first letdown as a Gaga stan.

Agree to disagree. It has some of the best closeup shots in her videography.

 

The biggest reason it's "forgotten" as a single is because it's too long for the casual listener. 5 min 20 sec with a sax solo. 

 

The fans were not ready for a minimalistic Gaga video in 2011 right in the middle of her most maximalist era but 11 years later, it's held up nicely. The lighting said BI RIGHTS! Always ahead of her time

I watched Hold My Hand's video twice on a row and... I kinda enjoyed it!  That's even more than I could say when 911's video was released.

The video is fine lol. It's exactly what I expected for a soundtrack. The look while she's on top of the piano is gorg.

The original concept of TEOG where she jumps of Brooklyn Bridge and becomes a mermaid would have been so good. Too bad that was when she began pushing away the professionals
