Joaquin signed on when he never does sequels. All the set leaks/film sequences that we've been privy to thus far have been good. Seeing Gaga as Harley will be a major draw, as will seeing a live action version of the Joker/HQ "Mad Love" storyline playing out in what is probably going to be a pretty dark movie. I think all this + hype for the first one will draw a good amount of people in on opening weekend, and whether it clicks or not will determine the legs. The only thing I'm iffy on is how jazz/showtunes are going to fit into all of this, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see how that plays out.

Not ballads in general, specifically that kind of basic AC bait. The comment that started this convo in the first place referred to Adele and Celine. 

 

The general point I was trying to make there was that Gar serving "raw talent" and "vocals" oftentimes gets reduced to her doing AC projects when it's possible to do so in different directions.

Honestly with this never ending actors strike she's not close to see a movie set anytime soon.

I realized lately that I don't want a traditional rock album from Gaga, I mean I wouldn't hate it if it's a 'Plastic Hearts' kind of album but I'm always more convinced that even if it's not easy, she should try to do another kind of BTW album, that album was truly complete in everything, dark industrial EDM but with some infusions of other genres like pop,rock, jazz and with few ballads on it (like 'You and I', one of her best), I think everybody would be happy and satisfied at the end, dark bawps stans and HacGa ones. 

 

Unless she goes for a modern R&B-Soul-Jazz direction, I'm still here for that one.

I totally agree with both your points, Joaquin accepting to returns has always been a sort of garancy since he must be very satisfied with the script-project, he wouldn't put at risk the role that made him win the Oscar if the idea for this sequel wasn't valid-interesting, he recently made Ridley Scott rewrite the script of 'Napoleon' because he wasn't satisfied with it, that being said I also understand the feeling of not wanting to act like it's a sure smash even if it has a lot of positive things on the paper going on for it since with movies you never know what can happen until they're out.

 

When it comes to the jazz-showtunes direction of the music, I think it works perfectly given the contrast it will have with the dark tone of the movie, it's gonna make the craziness being more real.

 

I even hope for a better reception from critics this time since the first has been revalued from when the reviews came out and it was perceived as controversial.
