Honestly loving reading these posts. I also can’t wait for FKOH on the 19th if that’s happening.

I’ll keep tracking the 2 singles in my google sheet but won’t post daily updates about them anymore as the numbers aren’t so great, but will do periodic ones :)

Except you seem to be pinning my pov on promo, to chart success? I get it, this is why they do it in the first place. But I’m also very VERY aware her days as a leading pop star are well and truly over. I simply want promo because she can go more in depth about the process of making it and how the last few years have impacted the music. That’s the promo I want (she doesn’t owe me anything lol). Not based on sales.  The Ange podcast was excellent- I’d like one solely based around the album and songs.

like I totally understand where there coming from… but this aggressive push back because I don’t agree with her teams choices um no.

Certain fan bases do that to everyone sadly :hughard:

I love my girls KC and always will. Her voice is out of this world, her personality is unique and she is funny as hell. Not to mention her legacy, which has become solidified in recent years. She is respected and liked by her peers and many young artists/vocalists are inspired by her.

But this roll out is not it. Mine and Me are wildly underwhelming. The silence after the release is just strange, and comes off like the new music is nothing to invest in, discuss or promote.

I don’t care if you’re twice the age of Rod Stewart. I don’t care if you’ve had a career larger than Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley and the Beatles combined. If you work on a project, and decide to share it with the work, you obviously want it to be heard and appreciated by people and for it to be successful.

My enthusiasm for this era and album have been somewhat diminished by the two lacklustre single choices and the absolute silence since their release. I don’t connect with Mine at all sonically. Me sounds like something she has already done three times over and much better on MOL.

She should have taken control for this era fully and done it differently. She should have released a more straightforward divorce song and dropped the album at the same time. Especially since she argues the importance of hearing the new album from start to finish because it describes a whole relationship.

I love her but I’m disappointed in the choices and the subsequent development.

And this comes from someone who loves her, defends her, understands her age and the stage at which she is at in her career as well as how personal this project is to her and that she is busy, and a mother with priorities that have shifted dramatically in the last 10 years or so.

She said the single choices for me/mine were the label's decision........kinda makes me wonder if they're trying to sabotage Kelly.

Likely not. They have an investment in seeing Kelly be as successful as possible. They won't try to sabotage her on purpose (this isn't a Clive Davis personal situation). Even if Kelly doesn't care for numbers, they certainly do (within reason) and want to maximize their return on investment as much as possible.

Kelly's career has been plagued by weak single choices since practically day one, Me/Mine is just another example.

Do they though? Atlantic does not seem to be spending many coins on this era. Even the lyric videos for Mine and Me are so lackluster it gives the impression they’re not optimistic about much of a return on investment and chose to spend less out of pessimism. At least that’s my impression.

There's a difference between not investing in the promo b/c they don't believe in the ROI vs. actively sabotaging her tho.  What would be the point of doing the latter?

I just don't understand if there are (supposedly) even bigger/better songs on the album, why on god's green earth would they go with the absolute weaksauce that is mine/me?!

Y'all mad that a 41-year-old legacy act isn't plastered on every tv show? Exactly what would that do anyway? We saw with MoL that it doesn't move the needle.

I expect a 41-year-old legacy to do the bare minimum. Even members of Metallica are promoting their tour on Conan O'brien's podcast. 40+ years old alt-country artists promote their singles on twitter and instagram. Even the most reclusive americana artists still give interviews for specialized magazines.

She stopped doing the bare minimum. But I'll give her the benefit of the doubt until the album drops. If she still remains so unnactive in promoting her work even among critics after the album drops... :coffee2:

So….. Here is my pov:

- As a “retired” stan that’s been following the charts since the AIEW era; I can completely understand the need

from fans to see their favorite artist succeed. And there is nothing wrong with it. It’s like cheering your favorite

sportteam, but sadly just like it’s illogical to expect Michael Jordan to score 60 points in a game in 2023, we can’t expect

a female pop artist to have a hit that’s older than 40.

- Her children >>> TKCS >>>>> Her music career. That’s the current state of her priorities. The amount of promo, appearances, interviews and… musical success started declining right after the amazing 1-2-3 punch that was Stronger, Greatest Hits & Wrapped in Red.

- I think we can expect a similar of not bigger push than WCCA received. I feel… or at least I’m hoping they are saving the promo a few weeks before album release and that Me/Mine were just buzz tracks to hold the stans warm for what’s to come.

- I am a bit worried about the writers strike and what it means for possibly planned promo. What are the shows she can still promote on that aren’t going to effected by the strike?

Yeah I don’t think they’re actively sabotaging her. I don’t buy that at all. Kelly has said both that she let Atlantic choose it and that she chose the songs cause they better capture the completeness of the album. So, who knows. She’s always had a knack for mixed messages and I try not to read too much into them.

They would need to start getting creative. Big podcasts, the today show, tik tok/paying tik tok influencers type stuff, radio interviews/radio payment, streaming banners/playlisting

None of which they'll do

FYI Mine is currently top 20 on HAC/AC chart which is great since it received no push at all.

The album doesn't come out for another 6 weeks, so I think some of you can hold off on the meltdowns.

Let's actually see what happens in the coming weeks.

And there are ways of expressing your worries and concerns without acting like her career is over and theres no hope for this era, like go take a walk and get some fresh air lol.

Interesting, I do wonder how many people actually look at the visualisers on songs that aren’t new new

anyways, I’m so excited to hear it!!

booked my flight for vegas yesterday so I’m on a sort of higher than normal high for Kelly atm

I wonder how they plan on marketing the remaining tickets for the shows in vegas. Anyone with knowledge of Vegas residencies know whether it’s a case of “sell to tourists closer to the day” or just is what it is

When I saw Britney there, there were no promotional pushes to sell the last of the tickets. It’s Vegas so I think they just expect it to sell out or sell close to sold out the day/night of the concert. As stans, we’ll book the trip to Vegas around the concert but the majority of tourists are there to be there so they’ll book tickets to shows the day before or after on a whim for something to do.

TL;DR it is what it is.

Edit: I did, however, have a flyer for a Lil Jon concert shoved in my face as I walked the strip.

Interesting! Thank you!!

I just did a map view of all the dates out of curiosity and it seems like the earlier dates are filling up pretty close to what’s on offer - there are some side upper reaches not for sale on any days at the moment. There are some vip resale stuff but lower areas look pretty full which is promising! Hopefully it sells out or gets close to doing so

I’ve been keeping an eye on it and other shows at the same location. Kelly is selling the best. Most of the shows for Miranda, The Chicks, Keith Urban have so many tickets until day off and then they start to sell better. Kelly is doing great

I’ll add, for you, and anyone else in here, going to Vegas for the first time, I went twice to see Britney so any questions you have, I’m happy to answer.
