I remember in 2017, I had a fan site for Katy and some huge website embed my video from one interview. The next day the video had 1 million views and I was like, huh, what? They were twisting her words. She said: Whatever we say behind people's backs, the Internet can be a little bit ruthless as far as fan bases go but I think that the greatest thing we can do is just unite and love on each other. i feel like she's been attending these shows for a purpose and it isn't just to generate hype/clout. 

it's more to give THEM clout by attending, and in return they give her something. 

i mean that's just doing business so it's not far fetched so i do believe she has a purpose and it's not random. 

she's strengthening her relationship with ppl in power & establishment and gearing up for a massive era.

Well yes, of course, everything in this industry is about doing the right favors for the right people. She addressed this at one point during WWW iirc. She was obviously done with the whole sending birthday cakes to radio stations and keeping up appearances for positive news headlines side of fame, especially when she was most likely doing all the same things for the Grammys (performing the week after the Super Bowl only to be snubbed again is INSANE). So I lowkey don't blame her for wanting a break from the pop machine for a bit.

 

But it seems like she's over that and ready to do what she needs to do to have a successful era again. She's tried doing it organically and it just doesn't work.

the fact that she managed to stay relevant, generate organic interest & get two moderate hits (nro&hih) while also reviving her old hits and reaching new heights on streaming during this lazy era is actually insane. the demand was always there.
