Okay, but what does fresh even sound like in 2023? Pop nowadays is just disco, synthpop or house rehashes (which I'll gladly eat up, don't get me wrong).

Someone like PinkPantheress for example takes from drum n bass but nobody calls it 90s throwback cause it feels very new and current

 

I trust Duallah manager to get the best out of the DL3 producers

Exactly and I don’t think really think theres any big artist out there rn that isnt doing just rehashed sounds from decade past. I think Dua has it in her to bring something fresh but its still gonna sound like it could belong in another era as well

I mean, I don't expect Dua to invent a whole new genre, but while the 2010s had trap and tropical house, the 2020s still don't have a new sound of their own, not in the mainstream at least.

 

If Dua can give us the 2020s equivalent of FS/LS or Purpose (not in terms of sound, but by being the album that completely shifts the airwaves for the next few years), she'll smash like never before.

Didn't she work with Danny L Harle on the new album? Maybe she's making a more mainstream hyper pop inspired album, could be a serve if done right

 

And didn't she hint that there were rave influences on the new album? Or did I make that up in my head?
