I just can’t take anyone seriously vehemently calling people bootlickers over human rights while parading an avatar from a VOGUE shoot.

VOGUE is a billboard for the exploitation of women and children being exploited in the fashion industry down to the supply chain of farmers growing cotton, forced labor conditions, etc.

So, if we’re gonna shake the table, let’s shake it for real.

Or keep the fake outrage on the playground.

 Clock it. These girls are sooo unserious.

The thing I think is funny is that if we criticize Bey for doing something worthy of criticism, y’all say “touch grass!” “Get a job!” “No one cares!” Yet when we praise her and talk about how amazing she is, that is considered a productive use of time and not a sign that the commenter is unemployed. :rip:

Also some of you need to learn how to correctly use the phrase “performative outrage.” Posting a comment criticizing her for performing Dubai is no different than posting a comment praising her for how much of a slay the Heated outro is. It’s the same thing: Bey does an action, we discuss it and apply a positive or negative feeling to the action and move on. If y’all are gonna call that performative outrage then I’m gonna say y’all are performative loving Renaissance.

most people are out for themselves...this is not a celebrity thing. if you got offered $20, 000 for 1 hour of your work skills...you'd take your ass over there for a free trip & that check. most of us do it far less in our home countries where we have shitty politics of our own. b/c why would I give it up just for you & your cause?

You can’t compare the middle class and poor individuals in this thread to billionaire :hoetenks:. Like hello, some of y’all are living paycheck to paycheck meanwhile Bey could never sell another album, jacket, or concert ticket and remain rich for the rest of her life and have tons of wealth to hand down for generations. The hard truth is that she doesn’t need this money, she doesn’t require it to maintain her standard of living, she’s isn’t going to lose her house, her kids aren’t gonna have to go on food stamps. Now that’s not to say she won’t put the money to “good” use (funding artistic projects, perhaps down the road some kind of charity project) but it’s still anti gay money.

bootlicker

noun

INFORMAL

an obsequious or servile person.

So, a person who is licking the boots of Beyoncé as opposed to holding her accountable for a hypocritical decision she has made. "Yes Beyoncé, whatever you say Beyoncé!"

You’re missing the most important part of bootlicking, which is the flattery of an authority figure to gain favor with someone with authority over you as these multiple dictionary definitions state

someone who praises or is extremely polite to a more powerful or rich person in a way that is not sincere, usually in order to get an advantage for themselves

to try to gain favor with through a servile or obsequious manner

a person who praises, helps, or obeys someone in order to gain favors or advantages

now please tell me what authority Beyoncé has over any of us? and how not caring about this stupid argument gains favor with someone who doesn’t know me? Quickly…

Funny, I don't remember you having this take when people are fighting for racial equality whilst using their iPhones. You know, if everyone has to be fighting for absolutely every cause simultaneously, otherwise their arguments and activism should be ignored. :coffee2:

it was giving conceded when Kimberly had you in a chokehold

Kimberley was actually able to formulate coherent arguments, unlike you. I deeply disagreed with them, but saw that she was very much set in her opinions and wasn't changing. So I was done at that time. Hours later you were ranting your usual nonsense and I decided that I was more than happy to drag your hypocritical, bootlicking ass up and down this thread. Hope you've enjoyed. :heart2:

You have been kissing her ass for years and aggressively attacking anyone that drags her so it’s rich coming from you trying to say I’m bootlicking over this Dubai concert. :skull: You can have a discussion, but not attack members but I guess that’s tough for some of you. Trying to force your opinion that we should all be outraged over this is ridiculous.

Fact is, it’s not just one decision, she has made plenty of bad decisions, maybe some of you just can’t accept it and others have.

Of course I've been kissing her ass, because I love her. I've dragged people who come for her falsely, but I've sure as hell called her out when she stepped over that picket line, or when she performed for the Gaddafi family, or used an ableist slur or any other decisions that I have found morally inept.

Stop crying victim and pretending as though we haven't been repeatedly gaslit over being unhappy with Bey's decision. Some of us want to hold Bey accountable for these decisions, instead of just repeatedly letting her get away with things. If you don't, that's your decision. But I think that's wrong.

When Miss Lovett was lashed by Kimberly point 4 point she was “done” with the conversation.

only to come back pages later arguing the same tired points.

until someone explains why it was fine for Dua, Gags, Kylie, Madonna, Diana etc to perform there…their fumes are DOA :alexz2:

I best not catch Lovett and the moral higher ground hive discussing any footage or pics from this event. Since it goes against everything they hold near n dear. :alexz2:

Well Bey stans are 90% of the people dragging her in the thread. They don't care about the other people.

Also most of these incidences were before the World Cup and whether conscious of it or not, I think its made people more sensitive to the topic

Lastly frustration is definitely feeding some people's feelings and how it fits into the Renaissance "era" ...

Will be very interesting to see if this ever picks up steam outside of ATRL once it eventually happens.

Billionaires have billionaire bills and in order to maintain billionaire status...the money has to keep coming in somehow. No one stops working...Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Warren Buffet, Oprah...all working citizens. she's an entertainer...tours, albums, private events, etc are part of accumulating that money which got her there. $24 million is a nice sizeable check for less work than an average concert date. trying to play moral police when her own country is full of ****** up **** won't solve any problems.

The advantage you seem to think you have is that you're "real Hive" and we're not, because we're holding her accountable for her poor decisions. You're literally sat there kissing her feet and saying "oh no, she's not a politician!!1" "she deserves her money" because you think it makes you more of a fan.

It's always funny watching people try and be as literal as possible with a definition to try and distract from their behaviour. :skull: Get a grip.

Mawma she doesn’t need $24 million from Dubai. She can make that money in more ethical ways under capitalism which we all know is an inherently unethical system. Again the timing is poor, LGBT+ pride album being performed for elites in a homophobic country. Why are you acting so close minded about this??

Smart billionaires invest their money and get returns back that way. Property is really the easiest way to retain your wealth.

Guys, naunce exists in the world. Life is not zero sum, you can't be boil down the conversation to capitalist or not :rip:

Like America in 1850 and America in 2022 are both capitalist nations. But in one of these years racial segreggation is legal, in the other it is not. In one of these years gay marriage is legal, in another it is not. You can exist in a capitalist state, support a capitalist state and still hold and fight for values within that state and system. Society would be nowhere if purity was required to have an opinion and be critical of something.

Truly guys, you don't need to try and humble people for having values and drawing lines under things they do/don't support. Beyonce will be fine, I promise you

First of all, I didn’t say these issues were identical. But are you denying that capitalism and commercialism is still at the root of Beyoncé being in a position to land a $24 million payday?  That was my point.  And much like this argument, there are a myriad of issues you can unpack that directly impact the conditions of human life.  Especially at the farming & labor level.

Of course we can survive in a capitalistic state.  But it doesn’t make it any less ethical.
