On China's biggest music platform QQ Music for sales of 10 million yuan. It becomes only the 4th western album to do so after 1989, reputation and Lover (all triple diamond):clap3:

This is super impressive but keep in mind China uses a different methodology so 1m units sold is not the same like 1m sold in the US, UK or most of the other countries.

China doesn't use a different methodology. Last year Lover sold 1.1M pure (2.2M total) in the US, and 3.2M pure worldwide according to the IFPI. Where do you think the rest of the units came from. Sure, there were must be a lot of unsold US and international shipments too, but that total would definitely not exceed 2M. So where did that 1.2M+ come from? China. So, if the IFPI counts Chinese sales the same as sales everywhere, I think it's safe to assume that 1M in China is equally as valuable as 1M in the US or UK, since no other foreign act beside Taylor and very, very few domestic acts pulled it off there. It's not South Korean sales, where several bands cross 1M units each year so pulling off 1M isn't much of a rarity. Have a nice day.

No? 1 millions sales is 1 million sales. The price being different doesn't make the methodology itself different :rip:Albums in Japan are twice as expensive as the same albums in America, yet just like China this does not mean the methodology to determine units is different. One sale in the US = one sale in China = one sale in Japan when it comes to equivalent units according to UMG and IFPI :michael:

Someone posted their formula and it was something like 1 stream = 1000 units. Basically it was a drastic difference compared to let's say the US system. I might be wrong, can't remember the exact formula.

And don't get me wrong, not trying to discredit Taylor, she's easily the biggest western act in China.

But this is about downloads, not streams. No streaming equivalent units are counted here.

That was an example, maybe the formula contained downloads aswell? Idk it would be great if someone could make a breakdown.

Either way, an impressive feat for Taylor :clap3:

We're talking about pure sales alone, not streams. Folklore has sold 900K pure. It has probably sold over 1M units with streams.

How would that make sense?

One download is one download. It's not rocket science

breakdown:

900k people consumed the album, so the album has sold 900k in china...there’s literally no more to that. no streams. no nothing. just pure sales...in china.

idk how else we’d explain it!

Not a Monster discounting Taylor's success. Go worry about Chromatica's descent to irrelevancy. Anyway, princess of China did that!
