Ed Sheeran is reading this announcement for the 55th time as we speak.

Lets be real, I highly doubt this will affect Ed's chart success :skull: The GP eat up his music like crazy

Ed sheeran didn’t even use this tactic? He got like 440k first week without adding any tour bundles even though he had sold out stadiums everywhere. As if Ed is worried about this lmao he has the least to worry about he is the king of pure sales and streaming

The album had to be redeemed before as well so it was never “forced”

Watch desperate artists like Justin Bieber and Camila Cabello instructing fans on how to make the sale count.

Unless the opt in comes at a higher cost, doesn't change much.

well i imagine it does since it's the cost of a ticket + the cost of an album rather than paying to have it all bundled together. Maybe certain acts will lower their ticket prices to account for extra cost of an opt in album but I can't see that happening often.

The bigger immediate change is to the Hot 100. I'm sick of the #1 debuts that can't even get a 2nd T 10 week anyway. Maybe artist will start selling these promo physical singles at Wal-Mart, Target, etc. That way BB & Nielsen can better track them.

Not sure how the shipping rule is new though, they counted ME!’s physical copies when they were shipped (and not sold) last year

any single bundled with +digital track was counted right away when it sold as digital sales.

all of ME Singles were also bundled with +digital single and counted as digital single in first week.

this is why she only sold them in first week.

Are you sure?

I remember everyone not understanding how ME! could be that high during the album week release, a lot of predictions were off and it was likely that the physical copies being shipped that week were the reason of that chart position... I really don't remember ME!'s debut week numbers including the physical copies
