About 2 weeks ago, Japan (RIAJ) launched new streaming certifications for songs.

 

Criteria:

 

30M streams = Silver certification

50M streams = Gold certification

100M streams = Platinum certification

500M streams = Diamond certification

Yes, Shake It Off's previous sales certifications remain intact.

I think they're counted separately. They also seem to be assigned automatically, those thresholds are quite high.

Few foreign songs have been certified.

Those thresholds my God.

 

Similar thresholds in the US would mean a song would need 1.25 billion streams to go diamond. Even Old Town Road didn't achieve that in 2019.

It says 0.5 billion for diamond cert

The thresholds are HIGH.  The rest of the world can’t relate. Main Music Market tingz.
