Pure sales are just gonna decline each year (especially iTunes sales I'd think) because more people are streaming. There are so many better ways to listen to music now.

With a performance Gaga could only do 115,000 (coupled with 27.3 million streams) and that was the biggest week since Drake in the summer  
Britney would not break 30k in 2019. She couldn't even go #1 on Sales in 2016. She peaked at #3 on sales with Make Me. The #3 song on sales last week sold 19,000 copies.

the fact that you compared 2016 vs 2019.

IF ME! was in 2016, it would have sold +300k digital  sales declined 70% from then till now.

Wait, so you are acting like her 'children song' is not the most promoted song of the year that also happens to be the lead single from her upcoming album? Why do compare it to a song that came out in September and re-peaked after a single performance? Wasn't it a highly-anticipated lead single? Drake and Ariana never were huge digital sellers, unlike Taylor.

Why are we talking about Britney in 2019?

Let's compare Taylor's 7th lead single to Britney's 7th lead single that broke the digital sales record at that time and actually debuted at number one. 

Billboard reported that it was likely to debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, due to high airplay and sales, which were expected to exceed 400,000 copies.

"Hold It Against Me" also debuted atop the Hot Digital Songs chart, with 411,000 copies sold. 

That chart-topping classic. Not everyone can have that on their 7th era.
