The streaming industry is not friendly to female artists. The formulas for the charts need adjusted, streaming favors male artists and male listeners.

Since male listeners were the first ones to actively support streaming, the playlists and entire infrastructure has been established to cater to them. People can laugh at this, but I respectfully and wholeheartedly agree with it. 

 

I've always believed that the weight that Streaming has is skewed toward male listeners and male artists, and the data is there to support it. Why would we make that the biggest charting factor when it's not inclusive?

Marin Morris is the only vocal on The Middle. Your filter is so specific as to be almost useless when you have equal billing on a handful of other female co led songs.

 

Ot: It's weird how on the HDD list you see Havana and NBTS but on Billboard's year end streaming list neither song makes it. I kind of trust Billboard more.  Ella Mai's song is twice as high as Love Lies on the Billboard year end streaming chart and it also received more certifications in the US this year despite fewer pure sales which checks out. BB is likely more accurate since they collect data throughout the year.  I'm not sure how HDD arrived at those numbers. They definitely aren't worldwide either.

male or female has nothing to do with streaming and weight system.

the problem is the genre's sexism, and also our soceity's sexism where female artists are struggle to get straight male fanbase.

HDD is US specific. Whenever they publish WW estimates, they specifically mention it.
