I personally don't understand the obsession with Billie Eilish's music. Every single time she releases a project I listen to it and then I'm disappointed. I don't feel that way with Taylor's projects. That being said, a lot of critics are harsher on Taylor overall and a lot of them go easy on Billie despite most of her music being boring. This project of hers actually wasn't boring imo. I didn't find TTPD to be boring or to deserve the score it got.

Weirdly enough, before the 2020 election, I remember the democratic party talking about stacking the courts in their favor. I wonder if that's a party opinion and not a biden-specific opinion. A Biden presidency will not solve the "far-right" court issue. What is being attempted is that leftists are hoping that he'll get arrested, but that doesn't seem to look like it'll happen before 2024's election (but maybe 2028). The problem with that line of thinking imo is what are they going to do if he gets arrested for something like 6 months since a bunch of the cases have been thrown out of the courts recently iirc.

Biden WILL NOT win this election, I fear. Between the DEI ****, the fact that he's trying to straddle the line on Israel/Palestine and the fact that it's very obvious most politicians support Israel between the anti-semitism bill and the bill that the house passed to stop Biden from blocking weapons to Israel. Meanwhile, Trump called for the death penalty for anti-semitism back in 2018. Support for Roe is pretty weak overall, despite how it may seem. The left is an incredibly vocal minority and they have been for the past decade and that's continuing. It doesn't help when Biden says **** during the SOTU about "the middle up"; making it very clear he doesn't care about the poor. Something else I think deserves observation in the things you're mentioning is the transgender debate (ie; sports, bathrooms, etc). I see tons of that ****. I think gay marriage is less of an issue on the right's radar versus transgenderism. Biden has a single card to play, and based off some of the headlines I've seen, he's played it. and that is legalization of marijuana. He can't play the immigrants voting card since that's already going to court (since he planned on giving states that took in immigrants extra electoral votes in order to stack it in his favor). I'm saying all this **** as a centrist watching all of this go down. Biden has to figure out his next move or rig the election like it was said he did in 2020. (though so many people believing he rigged it also hurts his stance).

I don't think her husband is the only reason she takes risks. I think that is a minor factor. I do think most of it is of her own accord. But again, as I said before, she also has a significantly longer career than all the other women mentioned throughout this thread, so yes, she's going to want to switch it up for artistry reasons, fan reasons. But she could literally release anything she wanted. Literally. and she would not be destitute or out of a job. That cannot be said for a lot of these people releasing "safe" music.

What I mean re: her husband is that if the album was a total flop, she wouldn't end up on the streets or whatever. She has "**** you" money between her and her husband and it's a factor as to why she can release literally anything she wants. The biggest factor is her fanbase, followed by the fact that she's had a career for over 20 years.

Beyonce also has the longest career out of the people named here, has a billionaire husband and also has the backing of her own career behind her. She's taking risks because her fanbase will literally eat up ANYTHING she puts out. I know people say this about Taylor, but it's even more true for Beyonce fans. Billie really is staying in her safe lane; that is, sad-girl-core. This album is meant for the zoomer sad-girls out there that think LDR is too sad-girl core for them (or are teenagers). This isn't a bad thing, though it definitely was with her previous albums (this album is significantly better because I haven't turned it off yet and I'm on track 8, so I'd call that a win for Miss Eyelash)

My main problem with Billie (and to some extent Finneas) is that she frequently sounds as bored as the consistent expression on her face. I'm listening to her new album right now and it's not the worst, but she still sounds bored out of her mind on a lot of these tracks. Jack Antonoff could never work with her because he'd never be able to fix the fact that she sounds bored as ****. Finneas does a phenomenal job given what he's working with and I don't hate him for it. That being said, because Jack works with so many different people, he seems to have more versatility overall (though yeah, a lot of his stuff is starting to sound samey, but he's been doing this for a while and it's bound to happen.)

Except Adele's records almost always feel like it's the exact same song, ctrl+c, ctrl+v.

If Billie debuts at #2 over 3 voice memo drafts, her album wasn't that good and she didn't deserve the #1. Oh yeah, didn't you have to buy a minimum of 3 copies to even qualify or some ****? I don't think it's about the money for her. Taylor knows most people will not buy this. (I certainly didn't, but I've heard the demos already). Blur is literally one of the biggest britpop bands of all time lmfao, there's no way they're not impactful and influential. They're not doing the diminished costs **** anymore. Looks like Israel/Palestine hit them hard. Literally more vinyl variants than tracks on the album jfc

Primarily because Lana doesn't take multi-year breaks in between releases like Lorde does. Lorde took like 4-5 years in between PH and Melodrama. In that time, Lana released 4-5 albums. I don't think quantity represents quality inherently, but Lana also has more consistency in her releases. And thirdly, Lana really was the first to do Sad Girl - core music at the time.
