Joanne's biggest issue was leaning into country rather than Fleetwood Mac-esque pop rock. Also, PI was the wrong lead. It should've been Diamond Heart with a black & white video of a pre-fame looking Gaga (with dark brown hair) hustling in the Lower East Side. Everything else tho, era wise, was great. Super Bowl, Coachella, Dive Bar Tour, Million Performances… They can only deploy so much marketing & messaging to cover the fact that the music itself was never fully fleshed out.
