  1. This isn't even a diss or bad comparison. Taylor Swift had great lead singles, she's not interested in doing that anymore (releasing lead singles) so that's why they're saying "used to". And she just came off what was essentially a greatest hits tour and re-recording her old music, I don't think it's a stretch to say that nostalgia and bigger hits in her past catalogue are part of a reason why she's still popular today. And her old stuff is much more popular that her new stuff anyways.
  2. Conor Oberst? Better Oblivion Community Center II incoming I hope, that's such a great album.
  3. There's a video she just posted to her stories about the Lego collab and she's carrying a honeybee tote bag, so I guess that's the big hint for the next single.
  4. "when you have 1000 guests inviting someone who has a multi-billion dollar contract to build concentration camps is par for the course!" well you see. maybe she didn't need to invite 1000 people to start with and secondly. i think when inviting another billionaire, it might actually be good to know where their money comes from. she's a billionaire and everyone wants to act like she didn't get there by exploiting people but she did, and it calls into question what she's doing with her money outside of managing her music and her real estate.
  5. I think Olivia has handled the situation as well as anyone could have, and Swifties have been super delusional about Olivia. 'Nothing New' proves that Taylor's been having nightmares about a new pop star whose exact description fits Olivia Rodrigo to the letter since the Red sessions, and both of them have gotten their shots in. Taylor looks suspect after making the buying and selling of her albums a key component in her modern persona (the situation being framed as traumatizing, her becoming someone who fights for artists, she's a mastermind for devaluing her masters and buying them back) and Olivia will forever be looked down upon as a copycat artist and will have an extra deluded fandom breathing down her neck for her entire career. The true and ultimate villain here is that fandom. Taylor is at the height of her power, and they're bored and miserable and won't let sleeping dogs lie.
  6. Acting as if none of us saw the video where she was happily throwing Florence Pugh under the bus for Shia LaBeouf is a choice. Florence can keep walking away with a clean conscience here, the only good thing about that movie. Plus she's in ******* Dune 3 this year, she's fine.
  7. She might actually be reviving Lilith Fair, or something female focused like that event. That's pretty cool.
  8. Fantano's review was out of line, but there will never be anything cool about calling out a bad review. It will always make you look thin skinned and petty lol, there was an actress this weekend who did the same thing and it was such a terrible ******* look.
  9. she's going vegan! I had been thinking tomorrow's announcement was more tour dates, maybe dates for performances in Asia or Latin America, some Australian/NZ shows. But I don't think she'd go on GMA for that. Maybe an initiative for her Fund 4 Good, or a documentary or something?
  10. I love the idea of Taylor Swift not being threatened when "Nothing New" exists lol. If we believe the whole concept of the vault songs to heart that means she's been having nightmares about a girl like Olivia coming along since 2011.
  11. It's a non-inflammatory interview, mostly talking about the actual music and her influences so at the end of the day people will forget about it in like a week just like most people forgot about the dumb babydoll dress discourse. Stans will be riled up for a minute, but she's been trying to build up a wider and older audience and this is a good way to do that. Honestly I'd rather her do a purely music-based interview with Fantano over chasing tabloid headlines and getting embroiled in stan twitter clickbait with a Call Her Daddy appearance.
  12. Florence Pugh innocent lol. Tried to sell her out for Shia LaBeouf of all people! How she managed to get out of promoting the film, I'll never understand but I admire it. Her hands are clean.
  13. I love how the songs are interweaved with each other, starting with Stupid Song. the line about being a thread coming undone which leads to The Cure, the whole idea of New York being so sad without him and then moving in together and the anxiety about being over-attached that ripples through Purple. Even the reference about skipping meals leading into her not being able to eat in What's Wrong With Me. She called The Cure the climax of the album, but Stupid Song is the "I Want" song. Drop Dead in this situation kind of acts like a prologue of sorts. I know she doesn't want to call it a concept album, but it's a concept album! It's basically a movie musical lol.
  14. It is very interesting that Taylor does frequently try to befriend the next new thing (whether it's an Ice Spice 15 minutes of fame thing or befriending Lorde to make a friend out of a potential challenger) and the friendship kind of fizzles out, and Olivia was on the list. She had her announce Fearless TV, she gave her a ring and everything and overnight it changed. Whether in reaction to Olivia's mega-success or the credit situation, this cold war stands out because it's so unlike Taylor. She's everyone's best friend, but pointedly Not in this situation. And it does come off as mean because Olivia was a true blue fangirl and something happened, and the next thing you know Taylor's basically calling every other Gen Z girl up for a collab and Olivia's torn up her stan card. Like that **** is personal. But it's definitely not comparable to Nicki Minaj in any way.
  15. I saved Cigarette Smoke until I could give it the proper attention and damn, the swell of that bridge. In this listen I finally put my finger on why I liked "Less" and it's because it reminded me Olivia's version of "Still Hurting" from The Last 5 Years, and in the same way Cigarette Smoke sounds like the curtain coming down on the relationship, a bleak finale (truly the bleakest song she's ever written). The album looping around to Drop Dead after that is kind of like restarting the movie. It's brilliant.
